Without listening to the entire droll, boring, monotonous, sleep-inducing, 25 minutes of horse-poop guessing on the future, I'll just offer this;

It's a wonder the Mustang and the Coyote engine still exist. If Robert Fascetti had his way, we'd all have Priuses.

I couldn't listen to 10 seconds of it. :headbonk:

My takeaway is:
Get your "non-electrified" 5.0L Mustang now.

A battery assisted 5.0L would surely be a beast with prodigious amounts of torque available...a real neck-snapper from a standing start.
Sounds like he spilled the beans and this power train combination could be motivating the S650 generation halo Mustang.

I'm ambivalent...
I just don't know if that type of power train will will still speak Mustang to me...but perhaps it may.

However, this is the future.

This. A hybridized 5.0L with torque-fill functionality would be a rocketship, not unlike the top level offerings from McLaren, Ferrari, and Porsche.

I haven't watched the video either, but ideally, future hybridized powertrains in performance cars will allow for multi-mode driving where the base mode will allow for some degree of electric-only movement and a performance mode will switch the electric motor into a torque filler.

Keep it Simple, Stupid. But maybe I am getting long in the tooth. :lol:

I guess if we can get better MPG while driving at low speeds and then have the coyote motor take over when we want to go to beast mode. :D

Prius still has an IC engine/generator.....I heard on NPR yesterday that the green push in the EU is for all IC engines to be gone by 2040....100% alternative, non-combustible fuel (EV, Hydrogen, etc). However, they did not discuss anything regarding classic car collectors, etc. The EU embracing diesel far more than the US used to be considered "environmentally enlightened" by the EU. Now they say all the diesels are wreaking havoc......:headbonk:

But maybe I am getting long in the tooth. :lol:
I know I am, and that means I have a really good idea about what I want in a car (and what I don't).

For me, the 'negatives' of added weight, additional complexity, and changes to the driving dynamics each outweigh the value of any potential MPG improvement by orders of magnitude. The straight line possibilities using combined ICE + electric don't even begin to close those gaps.

I'll probably sit through at least part of it, if only to find out how convinced he is that everybody should consider cars as nothing more than transportation appliances.
