Don't miss payments??

So what happens when the Tesla is driving itself back to the dealer and it runs over a pedestrian?

What happens when the self repossesing Tesla decides to turn itself into a rolling BBQ?

No different than the "repo man" hitting a pedestrian after repo-ing the vehicle.

It's better for the owner (well, previous owner) if it lights itself on fire AFTER Tesla repossesses the vehicle.

It's pretty clever of Ford, actually. As the article states, the tech is being tested for fleet vehicles and that's a honey-pot market. I use to work for an organization that regulated speed in company vehicles and it was actually a big expense to add on the tech. I was a field engineer so of course I had a fleet vehicle. It super-sucked, but it came with the job and there was zero argument for why I should ever exceed the speed limit in their vehicle.

In the larger macro-view, I kinda agree with @SVO MkII in that: Automated driving technology will eventually be homogenized and regulated to a point that human-controlled driving on public roads will be a pariah. It'll be stripped of any joy and taxed to the point that it simply isn't worth it anymore. I think it's coming pretty quickly too. Unfortunately, I think I'll still be alive to see it.
