Torque!

I'd rather have torque and lots of it.

I just want it to hang in there way up the rpm scale.

Remember hp is just the result of some math.

Amen. The EB I test drove got into positive manifold pressure w/ the slightest throttle modulation maintaining 60 mph. The car would get better mpgs and potentially make more power in the rev range it's actually needed w/o so much response.

Trying to make a 4 cylinder have big torque right off idle is a poor attempt to make it feel like a larger displacement engine. Smart for Ford, bc Americans like their torque...bad for us, bc we care about horsepower...

While I do enjoy the off idle torque it for daily driving that is mostly part throttle, it ends up being much more of a let down when I nail it and the car is just Mehhh.. I'll take a big turbo.

The low end response is what I really like about this car. I'm not a thrasher when I drive. I find this car, especially w the auto in sport mode to shift very quick and keeps the revs in the torque. I have a 13 PI Taurus w the 3.7 and though it has good power, it's a revver. I also preferred the auto for my choice because in my own experience turbo motors can be kind of yo yo like in power delivery with a manual.

And just as some flame retardant, I'm not dissing anyone else's opinion on what they want, this is just what I've found that I like after many, many, cars owned. My 14 GT was a kick in the pants but to me this autoboost just seems easier to drive quickly at the levels I drive.

No doubt a bigger turbo and lots of fuel will create gobs of power higher in the range but the way I drive my car it would be of no advantage to me. And I suspect that's why ford did what they did with this motor.

Well that's just semantics lol. If you are talking that way - I'd rather have my torque band further to the right then all bunched up on the left like the ecoboost does.

I'm excited to see what the ported heads and bigger valves do for the ecoboost. If it can hold that 350-400 hp to redline then it would be a hell of a car.

If they're really gonna be changing the tune to compete with the new gen 2016 camaro then how come the official numbers for the 2016 ecoboost on the ford website have the same hp/tq as 2015. If they were gonna be updating this tune in the fall, you think they would ship the ones they already have on hand with the most recent tune and also so they could advertise the newly rated hp....Very skeptical about this factory free tune.

I truly feel everyone is getting their hopes up to be let down. I'm just worried this is too good to be true.

Not sure we'll get any free hp/tq - from what I understand it's just a tweaking of the power curve... Currently it loses on the top right? So just keeping the same power over more revs?
