Hey guys just got word from the Ford engineer, they reached out to me because they've been working on my car for the cooled seats amongst other issues and they actually confirmed with me that Ford will be releasing a factory update to the Eco that will increase the ponies and the torque they are actually doing this to compete with the new Camaro that's coming out and it will be featured standard on the new Eco from what I'm hearing

Very interesting to hear... If they are doing it to compete with the new Camaro then I am assuming they are going after the 335hp V6. So maybe a bump in HP to 330? I can't see them going to 340 or higher because of not wanting to step on the Focus RS. 20hp should not be that difficult for them to achieve.

Those numbers should be easy enough, specially since they rate at the flywheel. But who knows. Either way, there are much better options out there. (If a few caveats)

I'm more interested in the power to weight of both cars.

That's interesting. Any idea when the update will be available? Will Ford notify the owners of this update? This will certainly mean that any tuned ECU's will have to be flashed back to stock.

So would this a free upgrade or do we have to pay for it?

Was the wording they used such that it indicates the current owners would get it or new Eco's going forward?

Since they purposely neutered the car I would hope they'd offer this reflash free. I know they'll most likely reflash current 15's still on the lot....so to be fair they should reflash others. My 2cents

If they do it, I would expect it to work like any other ECU update that they perform which they would generally do whenever you bring the car in for scheduled service like oil changes. This is why you should always flash to stock before bringing your car in

Qusetion. Will this extra updated stock power also increase one's tuned power? Recalibration of tune needed?

At that point tuners/manufacturers will all need to re-evaluate their current tune offerings.

I would seriously doubt it... Think of this "update" as a factory Ford tune. I think they are just tweaking their stock tune to add a bit more hp.

The questions is though whether or not they are tweaking "under the hood" settings that normal tuners are not able to access. If that is the case then it could very well effect aftermarket tunes.

For the tuners, no they have already unlocked the cars potential by tuning. The ford factory tune will be something to give a little bit more. to the stock car... think of it this way, the ford update will not strengthen the engine it just unlocks a little more power like the tuners are doing now

I got a few more details. The reflash will be part of the dealer service and at this time, I was told it would NOT be a charge.

They are looking to add 30 hp and 20 FT lbs... shoot, or maybe that it was 40 foot lbs.... i don't remember which one now... darn it.. I was really more concerned about my seats

again this is all coming from a someone who I actually used to work with when i worked for ford, so there is truth in it but final details may vary!

As far as the seats, for certainly has found a problem. My car is still at my local dealer and I have been told they are going to have it solved before they give the car back to me. I will be sure to post my findings once i get my car back as well. I will literally post the entire work order so that everyone else on here can get their seats fixed

a board member reached out to me to help and saved me a ton of money on a purchase I was making, the least i can do is share every bit of info to help everyone else get a solution.

EDIT:: dealer called and told me there is no fix from ford yet and there is nothing they can do..... not happy about the seats guys

Well that will be good since Ford likes to put the Ecoboost a step above the V6. It will be a better fit between the V6 and the V8.
