Well I have been sitting on this because I wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy, but here goes. I had my car in for service about a week and a half ago. Oil change, heat recall, front brake TSB (PP) and cooled seats. They do the oil change, hook up to Fords system for checks and updates and order seat ( I know not going to fix the problem), brakes parts ordered and recall parts on back order.

I pick up car and it feels smoother and seems to have more ummph on the top end. Before when people said the car fell flat on it face in the upper rpms, I knew exactly what they meant. Now it pulls much better through the top end rpms.

I know it is all in my head right? I check MPGs and I have gone from mid 20s mixed driving and upper 20s highway to upper 20s mixed driving and low 30s highway. I am still thinking this is all my imagination. Three tanks later I still have the same results. 27 to 28 in town and 31 to 33 on the hwy.

Prior to this last service this car never broke 30 mpg even if hypermiling, and I mean never on a full tank. Now it does so with ease. I cant say they updated the tune for sure, but something has changed for the better since the last service. I am almost convinced since I have one of the first Ecos released, that Ford has already starting updating some tunes of the first release cars. Go ahead...Flame away..

For the tuners, no they have already unlocked the cars potential by tuning. The ford factory tune will be something to give a little bit more. to the stock car... think of it this way, the ford update will not strengthen the engine it just unlocks a little more power like the tuners are doing now

I got a few more details. The reflash will be part of the dealer service and at this time, I was told it would NOT be a charge.

They are looking to add 30 hp and 20 FT lbs... shoot, or maybe that it was 40 foot lbs.... i don't remember which one now... darn it.. I was really more concerned about my seats

again this is all coming from a someone who I actually used to work with when i worked for ford, so there is truth in it but final details may vary!

As far as the seats, for certainly has found a problem. My car is still at my local dealer and I have been told they are going to have it solved before they give the car back to me. I will be sure to post my findings once i get my car back as well. I will literally post the entire work order so that everyone else on here can get their seats fixed

a board member reached out to me to help and saved me a ton of money on a purchase I was making, the least i can do is share every bit of info to help everyone else get a solution.

EDIT:: dealer called and told me there is no fix from ford yet and there is nothing they can do..... not happy about the seats guys
Any idea of when this update will come about for us to take advantage of? And do you think they'll contact us in the mail the same way they did for the recall? Or think we should check with our local dealers? I would LOVE this, virtually a free tune, weak, but free lol :headbang:

He told me they will start updating eco's between October and November, any earlier would be a bonus

Man I was about to be like WTFFFF ANOTHER FACTORY TUNE THREAD?!!!

this one is actually useful :headbang:

Looks like running this car on an aftermarket tune is relatively safe if Ford is about to drop another 30-40 on a reflash

Any idea if this will be for current owners? And if so, how would we get this done?

If they do it, I would expect it to work like any other ECU update that they perform which they would generally do whenever you bring the car in for scheduled service like oil changes. This is why you should always flash to stock before bringing your car in

Such a bittersweet thread. Glad to hear more info about the tune and got my hopes up for a cooled seat fix but then Ford let us all down with that. Oh well, tune will be great either way.

I'm hoping all of the info that I got was correct. It is pretty exciting to see that they can update this so easily. What a great platform for competition. You can literally upgrade it by plugging it in to keep up with competition.

Thanks for the info Will!

I'm equally interested in the cooled seats and the power improvements! I can't wait to hear more.

Well the cooled seat issue was not resolved, the dealer called me and said, there is no fix for this so at this time there is nothing we can do..... I was bummed, they even told me we will have a solution for theirs before we give the car back to you.

Ugh. Again, I could have saved a nice chunk of money by just going with recaros PP and the rest base.... Less stuff to break more time to enjoy.

Yeah I caught that, sorry to hear it after they said they would be able to fix it. I still see it as further confirmation of the problem and they are working on a solution. I was thinking the same thing on the options but to be honest, I would miss the seat heating in the winter. Watch the fix for the seats come out in the winter, "yup... they feel cool now".

My car is going in Monday for the recall. I will definitely ask about the flash.

A buddy and I were just talking about that, the winter months are approaching and we bet the fix will come out then too...

Any fix would be great though, and the. At least it will be ready for the next summer months
