Is the RS engine less prone to cracking from the higher hp levels?

I'm not 100% on this but I think that, yes it is stronger, but not 600hp on the block stronger. More like safe to run 450 hp vs 375 with the current eco motor. Yes I know others will say the current motor can handle 450 as well but that to me is a game of Russian roulette. I prefer a margin of safety. Others with more knowledge will likely chime in

Would like to see proof to back this up, was there material added to strengthen the block? I don't recall the RS motor having any difference in the open deck design either. Unless Ford has somehow managed to hide that the HPO package adds a semi closed deck block like the 2.0, i just don't see that happening when the HPO is just a bolt on performance package. I don't think internals will be changed over a base eco, externals (turbo, intercooler, etc) will obviously be upgraded. I'm sure you'll be able to squeeze more power out of a tune with the HPO vs base stock for stock, but the limits of the block will be there no matter where you start.

Aren’t the coolant passages specific to the RS variant?

To be fair no one expected the SHO performance package to also have the upgraded internals from the Police Package for how low its price was but they still did. So it's not like Ford hasn't done something similar before.

Id certainly like to know this - I am limiting myself to 350 wheel right now somewhat artificially to be safe. If the hipo package has a stronger block I may stock out and upgrade.

The engine in the new 2020 Mustang HPO, is a new aluminum cast block from Ford Performance w/ iron sleeves, new pistons, & a larger turbo. The HPO also comes with a larger intercooler. The upgrade cost is $5k.

That is all we know so far...

I kept going through headgaskets on my tuned RS and it was only 440hp/450tq at the crank. I wish you guys the best but that open deck really killed the RS modding experience for me...

Focus RS blocks are open deck, the block isnt any stronger because the Focus RS MK3s have problems at around the same level as the ecoboost mustangs (450HP or so). The RS does have a stronger head gasket and improved cooling but it needs it more because of the transverse layout and much tighter packaging in the focus.

From everything i can tell, the HP 2.3L Mustang was designed to take advantage of the engineering already done for the RS and make use of the parts since the RS is out of production. So it was more of a bonus and good timing rather than trying to make something significantly better over the normal 2.3L car.
That being said im expecting it to be a really great daily driver, considering the goals they had for tuning it (being able to rev it out and have a wider power band) its going to have the advantage of being a really good drivers car even if its not much faster in real life.
