The RS is powered by a substantially modified and transversely mounted version of the 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost that we’ve already seen in the Mustang. Peak output sits at 350 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of continuous torque, but an overboost function increases the latter figure to 350 lb-ft for short periods. The engine has a heavily revised twin-scroll turbocharger with a larger compressor housing and a unique airbox. It has high-tensile-strength cast-iron cylinder liners to deal with increased boost pressures, as well as a unique cylinder head. Which, in a fitting connection to the previous Escort and Sierra RS models of the 1980s and 1990s, is cast and machined by Cosworth in the U.K. The exhaust manages without any intermediate mufflers; apparently the back box alone is enough to meet noise regulations on both sides of the Atlantic, helped out by active acoustic flaps. Importantly, the engine has been tuned to rev harder than the Mustang’s tight-feeling powerplant, with the fuel cutoff not arriving until 6900 rpm. (Some of the changes apparently are now being considered for a higher-output version of the pony car.)

Reading articles like this make me wonder if giving up on my search for msrp RS and getting ready to jump into a ecoboost mustang is a smart decision. RS is going to be one bad arse awd monster.

Just like an Evo is still a Lancer and SRT4 was still a Neon... Throw away platform with bling!

Huge misnomer...it's a Focus by name. Is the Hellcat "just a Challenger/Charger" or is the "Z06 just a Corvette"? And an Evo/SRT4 would smash their bottom-tiered namesake.

Hahaha, and the BS just trickles upstream, the Porsche guys say a Mustang is "just a Ford", the Lambo guys says the Porsche is "just a VW", the Bugatti Veyron owners call Lambo a "tractor company" :lol:

I think it's a _badass_ ride, and in some specific situation, like a mix of cold/snow, cargo needs, it'd be high on my list :)

^ Bad analogy!

GT=V8
V6=V6

That's like saying apples are oranges. Can't argue with stupid!

other than a pos charger, totally different. all those cars are already sports cars or muscle or whatever you want to call it.

a focus is a budget friendly 4 door car. just like a lancer. a corvette is already a corvette no matter what model it is because it already has it's power and models above the normal model is just extra icing on the cake.

rs is a 'suped up 4 door car with a body kit and two more wheels that spin. just like a sti and an evo. not knocking on it or them. I was just saying. It's still a focus. I wish it was just called the Ford RS.

And your car is just a Mustang. Get off your high horse (pun intended) and enjoy automotive goodness for what it is. People like you give specific car communities bad names. End rant and my $0.02

oh piss off lol. I'm not knocking the RS. I wanted one before I drove the mustang fyi... after driving the mustang gt which is near the same price it didn't matter(especially for what I paid). end of the day I didn't want a suped up focus afterall that costs almost as much as my v8 mustang.

excuse me for having an opinion. yall have at it.
