So I have a 2019 Mustang Gt and it’s a manual but just wanted to know is it okay for me to flat foot shift on my stock manual transmission and no mods been done to the car. Except for exhaust and springs

Unless your car came equipped with NLS (no lift shift) which was on some models, then no. It's very bad for your transmission.

Is that the same thing as a “power shift”?

How terminology has changed!

No. I’m assuming he owned a boosted car before this one. Flat footing as far as I know is the hold the boost without red lining. There are handheld devices to change your computer. I could be completely wrong but that’s what I think it is.

What option package would the NLS be in or was it a stand alone option?

So would I need to buy a wot box in order to do a NLS and would a wot box mess with my fuel pump or no ?

It can just be enabled in the tune, you don't need any extra equipment. It just cuts the spark and/or fuel, so it doesn't mess anything else up.

I believe, in the context the OP is using it, that's what it means. The same thing as NLS, you're shifting and leaving the pedal maxed.

It's odd that millions of power shifts have been done for several decades, but suddenly transmissions can't handle them anymore.

i agree.

We never had a problem at all with transmissions back in the day.You really needed though to have installed a Hurst shifter or at least changed out the bushings in your factory GM shifter, because missing a shift could be disasterous to your motor. You’d be OK if you had hydraulic lifters but if you were running solid lifters like many hi-po GM cars did you could be in real trouble.

NLS is powershifting….somewhat. I’m not sure there’s a setting in the ecu, as I haven’t seen it, unless you’d consider hanging throttle to be it.
NLS cuts the ignition enough to allow you change gears at high rpms

I'd like to know how the NLS knows when to cut the ignition. It's possible it's really just the rev-limiter being used when shifting.

There's been a thread or 2 on this before. I think the conclusion was the Mach 1 is the first to have this feature from the factory but I could be wrong. Doing my own testing I found my 2019 GT PP1 does NOT have the NLS feature. To be clear, the feature was explained to me that when you shift at any RPM above 5k, once you throw the clutch in, it will hold that RPM. I tried this several times at different RPM and every time it was just a "power shift" where the RPM kept climbing till clutch was released in the next gear. It was fun to test though...

There's certain parameters to be met, and if they are then it does it during a shift.

For example, at the very least you have to be full throttle and above 5000rpm. There may be certain gears this only works in, and there also may be temperature ranges where if it's too hot it may not do it.

I just have my digi dash set to yell at me at 6700 and I do a fast off the throttle on the clutch, slam to next gear as I go off clutch back on the throttle. I'm not gonna do a power shift unless Im at the strip for money, which I dont have plans for.
