First Oil Change: Mileage?

Is an oil change after break-in necessary on modern cars? I'm approaching 1000 miles and wanted thoughts on what an enthusiast consensus might be.

Suggested interval except on the Shelby is 5000 Miles. Lot's of people do it sooner.

5k seems to the general concensus from what I am seeing... unless you are racing it.

I swapped out the oil at 500, and then ran Motorcraft blend, at 5,500 I changed it again for Motorcraft blend, and then at 10,500 drained it all out and put in Mobile One Extended which I plan to change at 10,000 intervals. I did a lot of research before and talked to a lot of service managers and gear heads. This seems to be the A game plan no matter what full synthetic oil you will run at that 10,500 oil change... I am also nuts, so bear that in mind as well lol

You can change it whenever you want; it's just money. But there is no NEED to do it until the oil meter say so in the dash display under settings/vehicle.

5,000 is pretty same as long as you aren't racing.

I changed mine at around 7,500 miles, and the oil sensor said I was around 80% on my Ecoboost.

Old school....every 3k, mobil 1 or Motul. full synthetics, keep engines super clean and well lubricated. I track all my cars for the last +30 years...no engine failures....the investment in oil it's nothing compared to what we spend in our cars in mods....

can you go back and get the warranty? With a S/C, I would be a little concerned about the stock OPG and C/S.

For the oil, I would change the oil more frequently. Maybe at 3-5k miles, or every 6 months, whichever comes first. S/C is likely to generate more blow-by and contaminate the oil that much faster.

Depends on your drive cycle and how hard you drive it, but anywhere from 7,000-10,000 miles on full synthetic is completely fine. The more highway driving, the longer your OCI can be. If you track it some, shorten that to 3,000-5,000 and it's best to do one before track day events.
