Hey everyone! First time post,
I have a 22 GT PP @sloww5ohh on instagram.
-
Currently have a custom valved exhaust with a custom x pipe + Corsa Catless Headers
This setup has good volume but to be completely honest I really dislike the tone. I know the coyote is raspy but I see and hear so many with deeper tones that have that iconic mustang sound. I know the Catless headers must have something to do with this, but I was wondering what you guys think I should do?
-
would a h-pipe solve the problem? Should I go a AWE exhaust with a h-pipe? Resonators? Borla?
-
for context I had Corsa Extremes with the Corsa Catless headers prior and it was just wayyyyy to loud for the street and my neighbours lol.
-
Thanks!

I stick with Borla for my vehicles, Borla spends a lot of time with R&D to get the Borla sound, they aim for a deep bass sound that is pure. I am installing a Borla Cat back tomorrow on my Mustang in place of the Ford active exhaust it came with. The Borla is also active exhaust and is the S Type muffler so it is a nice sound without being overly loud like the Attack muffler.

Ive seen some catless setups, heard a few in person and videos, from what i gather one of the best is s type borla 3” catback with catless headers for a loud but not stupid loud setup, with a great aggressive tone

I do like Borla, I just worry about the tone in conjunction with the Catless headers haha

Reinstall the factor resonator, Ford got it right from the start to give the Coyote the perfect Mustang tone.
I have Stainless works catted headers, resonator, and Ford Touring by Borla and it is perfect!

I went opposite, more quiet. Long Tubes, no cats, stock resonator, stock cat back and the car still made close to 800HP. Goes to show, those catbacks don't add power, it's just noise. The power is gained in the headers and cat area.

Pretty sure I follow this dude on Instagram. I'm sn95_mustang_garage on Instagram if you want to hear my car. I do a bunch of cold start videos.

Corsa’s mufflers have a more exotic tone, so they actually add to the rasp of the coyote IMO. Borla or AWE is the way to go. The Borla resonator will cut down some of the rasp too. Can also switch to a catted X pipe, that will help.

AWE or what I just installed from Thermal R&D (3" full cat-back, with 3" connection, 304 stainless, VERY DEEP TONE). I don't have headers, but people say with headers it has a much better sound than others. I was recommended the Borla S-Type, but let me tell you, that exhaust is L-O-U-D even with stock headers/cats, let alone catless headers. The S-type will blow your ears up. It's more of a resonation change with no sound suppression. The Thermal R&D actually has a 3-chamber muffler in the center, and the rears are straight-through Helholtz resonators (no packing).

Typically 800+ the catback starts to be a problem, at that power catback starts to need to be 3”, restrictive mufflers become power reducers, etc but its also not taking away hundreds of hp to restrict, itl be tens at 1000+ hp with a good flowing quiet catback. Bigger issue could be with heat in exhaust

I feel like if you're gonna go all in on a full cat-back, just do the 3" ... doesn't cost more and prepares for future if necessary. The idea that you "need back pressure" is fairly silly, especially on 7,000rpm+ engines like these, where there's not a ton of low end power anyway.
