How is this relevant to a vehicle that doesn't have a gas cap?Hello; On my 2004 chevy pickup I get a similar code every few years. Turned out to be the gas cap. I have an aftermarket locking cap and was able to replace the O ring eventually. Before that I was able to clean the cap and rub some Vaseline on the gasket which sealed things up.
That said there are purge valves and plumbing as part of the fuel storage systems of modern cars. This is supposed to prevent fuel vapors from escaping into the air. This system can also leak.
A caution when filling up the gas tank. I have been told it is now wise to overfill the gas tank after the fill nozzle clicks off.
Hello; I see these capless fill ports on some cars. I do not know if they are foolproof. If they do happen to be foolproof such will eliminate a possible leak.
