Only a procharger p1x installed, a couple of suspension parts and mainly a street car. I have been reading here in the forum lately that using 5-20 is a no go for a fi coyote? How true is that? I use Mobil1 full synthetic since the first oil changed.

My favorite oil isn’t offered in 5w50 so I’ve been running 5w40 for the last 20,000 miles, all of which were supercharged. I don’t do uoa but I do measure consumption and it isn’t even measurable over the 10,000 mile interval. I’ve noticed no effects in the vvt. I can see commanded and measured cam timing in logs and they do as they’re told. I’m sure many folks have followed the instruction manual and run the 5w50 and I’ve not seen any complaints on this board.

What brand of oil are you using? I’ll read up on that 5-40 and 5-50 for sure.

I’m using Pennzoil platinum euro 5w40. It’s an ACEA A3/B4 oil, which is a high performance spec.

Thanks. What would be the next choice if the pennzoil isn’t available?

Probably stick with 5-30 because it’s mainly street and a weekend car. It does get stupid hot here lol.

To be honest it's not only about how thick is the oil. It depends in the weather since the oil heat causes a chemical reaction in the engine oil, which causes the oil's viscosity to change

Where are you shopping that Pennzoil isn’t available? I’ve ordered the euro 5w40 from amazon or Walmart, found it locally in stock at Advance. It’s not the easiest to find like regular Pennzoil platinum or motorcraft, but worth it IMO.

I’m staying full synthetic although I was told before, once I made a switch to full synthetic, I can’t go back to regular oil or semi synthetic. Never read up on it and kept it like that. I wonder how true was that.

Local store in my area like autozone, advance, etc.. I’m going to start looking around when I get the chance.
