I am having white smoke issues w/ my car and haven't driven it since last year summer... As its getting time to take it out again I went in my garage to have a quick peek of my car.

I checked the dipstick and I noticed I had little to no oil registering on the dipstick.. Could this be the cause of the white smoke?

Am i burning oil? Cracked head or rings?

Any help or suggestions would be great. Just need to know how much expense I am expecting as I wanted to do some cosmetic mods but I don't think that'll be possible now lol

Thanks!

A cracked head would most likely have you losing coolant. Is the oil milky on the dipstick? Bad rings would also have positive crank case pressure. As a symptom. Does the white spoke go away after start up or consistent? I'd change the oil. Make sure it doesn't have coolant in it. (Milky). And keep an eye on everything. Don't panic just yet.

What he said. Drain the oil and see what it looks like.

It goes away.. The smoke (whichever color it is, hard to tell as I see in my rearview) is very evident if I'm doing pulls. It is not their on idle I believe, looks normal. And I'm going to drain the oil tomorrow and see how it looks.. Just waiting on my filter to come in so I can do a oil change as well. I was opening my coolant overflow tank and the cap broke and I can't see the inside of my coolant tank.. Just a piece inside the area where you open it up. Anyone know where I can pickup a new lid? It's the coolant overflow tank that came with my Paxton beefcake special kit..

I got a solid offer on the car but something inside held me back.. Maybe its because I have seen the car build up slowly to what its become?? I don't know, not going to sell it.. Going to grab a raptor later this year and daily that though. Guess I'm truly a Ford Fanboy :giggle:

I'm already kinda panicking.. How much does this relatively cost to get an issue like this fixed?

LOL F%^king expensive. Just a head gasket will be a grand. A junk yard head will be 3-500. Change your oil' 1st. That's the best way to tell if you got a cracked head or head gasket. Then go to youtube and learn how to do a compression test. And a leak down test. This will tell you if you have blow by on a cylinder. (ring Damage)

if you're having big puffs of blueish smoke it could be your piston ringlands. i would suggest at least doing a compression test.

It is blueish smoke I think.. I'm going to check.

I have some speculation guys.. So my car had another problem which has also not been addressed. It was making a weird sound, pretty much releasing air when I shut the car off.. You can see the thread I posted on here as well.

Anyways.. All of that started happening after I got a smoke test and oil change. At first I thought the smoke test did something (too much psi, blew something out) but now I think i may have figured it out.

I think the person who did my oil change did not put the filter on right, or the oring or something is causing it not to seal. I think that is where the air is being released from too, because I tried to listen under the car and it sounded like the transmission area. But now I think its just the filter area. My car has been starved of oil because it's been slowing pouring out.. I literally have little to no oil registering on the dip stick. I noticed some stains on my garage floor and now that I put everything together I think that's what it may be.

The car still pulled crazy hard till the minute I stored it. If i had damage on a cylinder, or ring, I would have noticed a power loss right?
