Yes. Less restriction should be less boost not more.
Altitude and cam timing also play a part too of course. Don’t forget about those.

True story... I was taken aback by that 8.6 figure. Right on
I forgot to mention barometric pressure as well. Not significant in and of itself, but if you line up all the holes in the cheese, you can see things happening.

All cheeses available says that not all gauges are created equal.

@Burkey have you installed a PNR tank or anything to combat heat for your iats
I used phenolic spacers from MFP over here in Australia. VMP sell them in the US. Best money I ever spent. Basically stops the heat of the heads directly transmitting into the blower case/intercooler. Very much a worthwhile thing for a street car. Clearly the gains wouldn’t be huge on the strip for the first pass, but they might help once the car is sitting/heat soaking.
After seeing the heat my Whipple was retaining between passes at the strip, I decided something had to be done.

Hood clearance? My supercharger is already rubbing the snot out of the hood insulation.

You have a 15-17 right?

Jesus I wouldn't wanna take this thing off for that. But seems like it would be fine. Did you need longer bolts?

I probably should mention that I lowered the engine 1/4” a long time ago and I had the spacers milled down to 1/4” (although they do sell them in a variety of thickness’).
The only other issue you’ll have is belt length. For some reason I can’t get a Gates green belt in the exact length required, I’m just using an RPM series instead. No harm, no foul.
I think stopping the heat in the first place is half the battle. Adding an ice tank etc etc will just prove to even more useful once you’ve removed part of the root cause of the issue.
@Roh92cp did a heap of testing with his Whipple and his results seem to confirm that theory.

I prefer the rpm belts over the green belts anyway. They are made for SC abuse. I'd guess you're probably up in the 84inch range on belts. I have been thinking about a GT500 style hood, that should give more clearance. Dunno yet. Rather spend it cash on go fast parts than appearance parts.

Agreed. Car that “goes” but looks “stock” > flashy rig that goes like stock..
