100% stock except lighter SVE wheels and 285 square tires. Never filled with anything but Costco 93, and never broken 17mpg even on the factory tires. If anyone is getting over 18 mpg you bought the wrong car, and definitely don't drive as aggressively as you think. Honestly I think this is true for a good deal of GT drivers. My girlfriend that drives her 4cyl accord nearly a 100 miles a day says that there are only 2 cars guaranteed to drive slow AF; Mustang GT's with older drivers, and anyone in a Ford Escape.
I never understood people who buy a v8 sports car to brag about their ability to get good gas milage. I did my weekly 3am drive which is about 12 miles and watched my miles to e go from 166 to 120

as a PP1 GT 6spd owner I'm gonna say the EB cars are easier to drive fast for 2 reasons:

1. they have less power overall
2. they have more power down low

so the GT needs to be launched hard (but not too hard) and then you're fine from there but the EB just has tons of midrange power but runs out of steam at the top. SO if a GT dude doesn't get the jump i could totally see a EB taking him for a bit.

of course everybody knows all this and just says "well its a shitty GT driver" but what that really means is... its easier to be fast in a EB car. sorry guys, its true.

the key with the PP1 GT is you just gotta go harder than you think you should need to and it'll reward you for it. there is no pussyfooting through the tulips with the coyote.
This is the case with almost any v8 car with more power than the tires and chassis set up can handle . And why it is the job of the meatsuit in the seat. Many with no skill other than mat the pedal to the floor and hold on. Just looking at you tube will prove there is a lot of these yoyo's in fast cars no matter the badge on the fender .
That said. Many that think they have driving skills don't and would never keep a high power car straight that has zero nannies at all .as it takes seat time and most owners today never had a high powered car , worse never had a rear drive vehicle before and that never ends well when they try to show off or race light to light.

This is where the A10 helps a lot with the extra gears I think and it’s why I find the Coyote pretty strong wherever it’s revving. Coming from the LS world that was one concern I had coming over to it. But I have to say it is a glorious motor. :)

Let's recap;

Both you and your wife drive the EB so hard, you're just sliding all over the place like the Dukes of Hazard. And the AdvanceTrac caused you to spin in a parking lot.....not your driving. But despite all the sliding, you're convinced the tires will last 40K miles.....easy.

But you then tuned the car with an SCT canned tune, and that made it a "Very fun car to flick around all over the place." So even more sliding, but it gave you the courage to actually engage Track mode.

You and your wife also regularly take the EB street racing, and have gotten "kills" against previous gen GTs. Quite often. Including more recent (and "blown") model year GTs that you "caught off guard". So not just sliding all over the road, but fantasy street racing.

Brilliant.

Now you bought a GT. You LOVE the AE, but your first thought is to remove and replace the resonator. And your first mod that you've determined the car needs, is a "3-piece strut bracing".....whatever that is.

Nothing to do with the IRS/cradle. Or shocks/struts. Or tires/wheels/brakes. No.....it's a "3-piece strut bracing" your GT needs.

Please....shoot me in the face with a bazooka.

Just gonna quote all this before the back-pedaling starts.
let’s recap queenkona …

You lost me at "The P Zero Neros last 40k mi. easy "

They lasted maybe 8k on my then stock GT.
I guess it depends on how aggressively you drive. I've got over 4K on mine (yes, I know, very, very low mileage but that's to change now that I live somewhere I can actually DRIVE the car) and it still has over 8/32" of tread left. Haven't rotated the tires yet and front and rear are essentially the same in tread depth.

then went looking for (other/all) 265 and 275 options
For summer you can't beat the price of kuhmo v730. Not recommend in heavy rain with deep sitting water.

plan on looking into consequences of running a lower octane in the GT since no plans to tune it
Itll just pull power under heavy load. Under usual and customary driving the difference is not noteworthy. That said I can afford 93 so that's what I use.

And please if you get a tuner in the future don't use the canned tune. It's there just to take up space. Get a tune from a KNOWN GOOD tuner. I have excellent results from Unleased Tuning.

I get 23-26 in the eco (3.31, d4) and never use 6th gear till over 80 mph. I get 20-22 in the gt (3.73, d4) and likewise never use 6th till over 80mph or im on a multihour interstate trip and want to sleep while driving.

Both figures are mostly highway commuting. If I'm out for fun back road scratching then both get down to 18 or so.

Kona is just Very VERY bored at work. As well as being a very opinionated assH who drinks bad coffee from the $800 office expresso machine. Speaking of which maybe I'll drive over there and harass him. And bring some actually good bean with me.

I would kill for 93! All the pumps here are 91 :explode:

Wifey went from a 2019 EB Premium PP1 to a 2023 GT Premium NPP w/ 3.55 gears.

In the EB, she would keep traction control disabled and would occasionally use Sport mode to zip around. The car was twitchy as hell with very aggressive shift characteristics. The rear end always sliding around while turning and occasional straight line acceleration. Sometimes she'd have my head pinging off the window just making a quick run in town for some food/gas/etc. Then we tuned it...using an SCT canned tune. Very fun car to flick around all over the place. I would also keep traction control disabled and unless slow/city traffic, I would live in Sport mode. I eventually got to where I would use Track mode when we were out playing. The P Zero Neros last 40k mi. easy. We had a few previous gen GT kills, even blown, and she caught several newer ones off guard as well, a time or two. My biggest complaint aside from the exhaust note, was having it pull power from me due to not disabling Advance Track. The one time I did was right after a rain in a wide-open parking lot, and before I even knew it I had spun out and was facing the other direction. No more of that.

Now she's in this GT and it's a totally different vehicle aside from exterior cosmetics. Granted we are still on "break-in", so taking it relatively easy, but still getting with it pretty good. We both cruise around, even in town or slow/city traffic in Track mode full time. The rear end is planted, and I don't think we've really even spun the tires. Having the LS diff. vs. Torsen, it definitely doesn't slide around anymore. In some cases this is probably a good thing, although not nearly as fun. The sound is, of course, incredible with the Active Exhaust. We'll be going with a Steeda, Lethal Perf., or Borla x-pipe soon. I expected the change in differentials and the coil-overs, as well as a little weight, but I still didn't expect them to feel as different as they do. I did stand on the gas last night from a 35 mph roll and I think I heard a tire chirp and was pleased with the near immediate power delivery and being pushed back in the seat. It's just a different car, and now I don't think she's insane for wanting to keep both the EB and the GT.

While I would have never bought an EcoBoost for myself, having spent some time behind the wheel of both, I definitely have a better appreciation for the little 4-banger now. I think insisting that it be a Performance Pack greatly contributed to that. Now to get comfy enough with this GT to see what she can do in comparison. I'm thinking it is just a heavier, more planted, softer ride, with more predictible, immediate power, and will lay a lot less Pirelli in the corners. I might look into the 3-piece strut bracing in the Spring.
Bro…you perfectly nailed the EB, twitchiness and all. I went this version for mileage since it’s mostly my daily driver…and it’s the first 4cyl I ever owned. Your right, the sound of the mufflers is annoying, even in Quite mode. But once out of my neighborhood, it’s palatable. You also nailed the drive modes and the resulting quicker shifting. In Normal mode it’s constantly hunting for a gear. You can’t drive it with traction control on, it makes that weird noise when you give it some gas and zero fun!
Mileage is a combined 25-27mpg…highway mileage (with a mileage reset) goes up to low 30s. And you’re right about the onboard mileage, it’s a little over 1 mpg off.
As for the tires, I recently took off the Pirelli Corsa summer tires because of all the small stones sticking to the tires when hot and chipping the paint. They handled great, but sneeze while driving at a high rate of speed on a highway, you’d wind up in the next lane! Lol. I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4.
When I retire, I’ll probably buy a loaded GT because I’ll drive it much less. But for now, this is an entertaining ride …if they can fix the electrical issues.

Good luck to you and your Mrs with your GT. She sounds like a hoot behind the wheel! Gotta love that in a girl…💙
