Hey everyone,
I'm a bit confused.

Backstory:
I was leaving my house a few days ago and saw a pool of oil under my car. I pull back into the driveway and put her up in the air. There was oil everywhere (all over the trans, bellhousing, pan, exhaust, starter...). I cleaned it all up and found that majority of the oil was coming out of the bellhousing vents on the bottom of the trans(MT-82).

I'm going to pull my trans off this upcoming week and replace the rear main seal along with doing a new clutch kit including hydraulic throwout, pilot, flywheel, friction disk, and pressure plate, but I'm kind of lost on fitment.

Everyone is saying that the EcoBoost and GT use different flywheels and clutch components which I have confirmed by looking at OEM part numbers, but my main questions are....

-----Is there an affordable clutch replacement for the Ecoboost that includes a pressure plate and friction disk?
-----Can I mount a GT flywheel to the 2.3 using EcoBoost flywheel bolts and then use a GT aftermarket clutch considering it is the same trans?
-----What are my other options or how would you go about this?

I am looking to go above the OEM clutch because I am full bolt-on, custom tuned and have plans to add a larger turbo in the future.

It is a 2016 Ecoboost Premium PP with 100,000 miles on it. I will be doing the work myself.

Thank you!

No, you cannot mount a GT flywheel to an EB. Even if the bolt pattern, physical appearance/shape, plus tooth count was the same - the imbalance is totally wrong.

A flywheel must always be matched to the crank balance, period. For example, if a crank balance is 50oz, the flywheel must also be matched to 50oz, nothing more and nothing less. If the flywheel total balance is greater or less than the crank’s balance, there would be internal NVH which would eventually wipe the internal bearings OR depending on the severity of the NVH on the rotational mass, the NVH can shear the crank snout off.

Just because the GT and EB share the same MT82, does not mean all things are equal between the platforms or that the clutch kit and flywheels are the same. Since you have an EB, you have to use EB specific clutch components and hardware

If you go on any of the most common Mustang specific Vendor’s websites (even Summit Racing and Jeg’s) and put in your year/make/model and search under their driveline category - usually under “transmission” you will see they offer complete clutch kits, many of which include all of the parts you’re seeking found in a single kit. Some even include a brand new flywheel.

I thought the EB MT-82 was completely different? Different ratios, bellhousing, output shaft flange, all of that stuff.

I myself bought the Clutchmasters fx-250 clutch kit. It only includes the guide tool, pressure plate and friction plate. I only have 70k on my car. Will I need anything else before I drop my car off to have it replaced at a mech garage?

Same ratios, different bellhousing & I don't know about the output flange.
