Another interesting point is the SVO was the top of the line most expensive Mustang during those years.
And it looked unique! It was rare to see one, so it was totally tubular when you did.

Ford's Special Vehicle Operations later turned into SVT so I doubt you'll see any SVO nameplates again. There could be an SVT model for it though.

It should sound just like the 1.6L and 2.0L EcoBoosts do because they are even fire motors vs. odd fire motors like the Mazda 2.3L DISI and Chrysler 2.4L. It's the same principal in the flat plane crank V8s vs the cross plane crank V8s.

I didn't even consider even vs odd firing.... Still though the 2.3 should have a bit of a unique sound no? 3 vales per cylinder instead of 4, .3l displacement difference, and that new header design Ford was highlighting. That header design should make the biggest difference in sound.

Yes, I doubt the SVO name would be used. Not many of the SVO's were sold, pretty much a marketing failure.

I expect Ford will sell boatloads of EB Stangs.

LOL^

The SVO wasn't a marketing failure, it was too upscale for most Mustang owners. Just like the XR4ti.. too expensive for most. Limited.

It's not a 3v. It's still a 4v head just like everything else. It'll sound pretty much the same but it will depend on the exhaust used as to how refined it will sound, how deep it will be, etc.

The SVO was only a limited production special model that sold well for the numbers they were produced in. The R&D that went into that also found it's way onto other Fords like the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe and Mercury Cougar XR-7 Turbo.

I should have specified in that they took what they learned from the SVO and applied it to the later Turbo Coupes as far as the computer tuning and what not.

Ford had the GT Turbo in '79 or '80 that was around for a few years. It was non intercooled. I can't remember off hand if the XR4Ti was intercooled or not. I don't recall it having a top mount like the SVO and Turbo Coupe.

I think anything remotely close to this would be perfect. Let's hope an active aftermarket gives us a solution for our ears.

Edit; Fixed Link. Still don't have it down on mobile.

That sounds like open throttle bodies or a Honda vtec through a less restrictive intake. My S2000 sounded quite similar. It's a good sound, quite metallic, but we're back at sounding like a Honda again. Although S2000 is better than a '94 Civic 1.6.

If aftermarket companies can get our ecoboost's to sound like this I will be a happy camper.... :clap2:

Honestly, I bet it almost sounds like that already. You can sorta hear the EB has a low rumble...it's just not that of the V8. When all these 2.3's rev their engine it still sounds like a 4 cylinder.

Also, finding out the EB has noise piped in...kinda is turning me off.

Nothing quite like the sound of that coarse 2.3L Turbo motor. This is 'murica demmit! Give me my coarse sounding motors not this refined euro motor nonsense! :D
