Maybe they'll be able to develop a microchip that will make the 4 and 6 cylinder turbos sound like a V8?Most of the baby boomers are hard core V8 muscle car enthusiasts (including myself). Clearly the future belongs to EB since the upcoming GT40 will be a twin turbo 3.5 litre EB engine producing 700 hp. I will hold onto my V8 no matter how much the EB evolves over time. I love naturally aspirated engine and I don't think that will ever change.
I am old also, and what I really like about the 5.0 is what it doesn't have, such as cylinder cancellation. Most of the baby boomers are hard core V8 muscle car enthusiasts (including myself). I would think the exhaust companies could come up with a way of channeling/funneling the sound in a manner to make the turbo'd engines sound more like a V8 and less like an angry weed-whacker.Maybe they'll be able to develop a microchip that will make the 4 and 6 cylinder turbos sound like a V8?
I think you should have tried the Pedalmax first, you probably would not have returned it. It doesn't add power like a tune would but it gets you up there really fast.I bought and returned a Pedalmax before even installing it, only because my guy at Bama said it would not play well. You can find others who use it with a tune no problem though.
It's the LAG TIME that these seem to address that still intrigues me, as they claim to work like a wire. They don't claim to make the car more powerful, they claim to make the throttle much, much more responsive.
Somebody should do a good comparison, as I am not sure that any tune is going to address the issue of LAG in the throttle. I love my tune, but don't like the LAG that I still feel between pushing the gas pedal and response time.
A 4 cylinder CAN sound really good, Ive driven an STi (dunno if it was 2014 or 2015) but man that thing actually rumbled and sounded really great. I was surprised and wished the EB sounded that good.Maybe they'll be able to develop a microchip that will make the 4 and 6 cylinder turbos sound like a V8?
Did I say I need reinforcement from others? The sound is for me, not others. I am not putting the Ecoboost down, because I love the car, but the sound of a V8 is a lot more enticing to me.Some of us don't buy the most car we can afford, we buy the car that fits our needs. I can afford a GT350, and Several Porsche models but I don't need to impress others with exhaust sound, HP numbers, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile or fancy manufacturer emblems.
So as an Ecoboost owner I can tell you that the Ecoboost with the Performance Package is an excellent car for an excellent price. Apparently you need constant reinforcement from your car in the form of exhaust sound so trade in your Ecoboost for a GT.
This!!!! STI's sound amazing! If I could make my EB sound like an STI i wouldn't have a problem with it.A 4 cylinder CAN sound really good, Ive driven an STi (dunno if it was 2014 or 2015) but man that thing actually rumbled and sounded really great. The base EB is a bargain but the EB premium is very expensive. From the base EB to the premium EB is almost a $6,000 increase vs $4,000 increase from the base GT to premium GT. A premium EB with PP cost $35K. Not too long ago, the 5.0 premium with track pack was around $38KSo as an Ecoboost owner I can tell you that the Ecoboost with the Performance Package is an excellent car for an excellent price.
That's not exactly an apples to apples comparison. There's going to be about a 5 grand difference when comparable options are used on both cars. Five grand is a lot cheaper to most people who buy Mustangs as a daily driver. Not a lot cheaper. I just built one online and the EB with PP came at $35,500 with the premier interior. WTF? I'd rather go with the base GT with PP.
