So I'll get right to the question, what are the differences between the base EB and the PP that allow the PP to reach a higher top speed? Hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me, considering my searching has rendered me nothing :headbonk:

If it can reach a higher top end (all nannies removed)...and I doubt it can ...it would be only if the rear-end gearing matching up better to the tranny gearing...when pushing against the aero wall.

Now in terms of "as sold" to give the PP Ecoboost some additional 'status' Ford intentionally set the computer (governor) to allow a higher top end speed.... as sold the PP has better brakes, stiffer suspension etc thus Ford felt more secure in the car running at the higher speeds. You would also have to check tire specs....the PP ties have a higher speed rating I believe. Thus the true cause of the "limit" is Ford (and for a reason).

Tires. PP has tires rated for high speeds. The base doesn't so they intentionally set the base up with a governor so you couldn't drive faster than tire rated speed.

Thanks for all the fast replies guys. So, in theory, if a Base was to be tuned to remove the stock limiter, it would be able to achieve the same top speed? Of course it would also need upgraded suspension, brakes and wheels.

It's the one thing I wouldn't even consider not getting. That being said the gears have nothing to do with it and it would actually work the opposite way if that was the case. The non PP can just be tuned to remove the limiter. I just did a 70-140 last night (in Mexico :)) The PP feels like you're going 90 at 120mph

All you need is the tune.

I think you mean PP vs non-PP. PP is an option available for both the Base model or the Premium car.

What makes you believe the other supporting mods are unneeded??
A better question is what make you believe they are needed? Wheels? The stock wheels will handle a top end run no problem. Forged wheels would be nice. But not necessary. It's not like the stock wheels are just going to fly apart. Suspension? The stock non PP suspension doesn't effect a top speed run. Brakes would be nice to stop in the off chance something runs out in front of you but the stock brakes will haul you down in a top speed run just fine. At top speed if something like a dear jumps out in front of you it wont really matter which brakes you have because it'll still take a huge run off to stop.

Never quite thought of it in this sense! So basically, only thing holding a non-PP car back is the stock tune by ford. Thanks guys!!
