23+ degrees of timing on E85 while boosted. If you’re NA I am not entirely sure as it’s been a while since I was NA. However, a minimum content recommendation of E78 wouldn’t worry if I dumped E70 in the tank.

Aggressive is more about how fast the low rpm spark is ramped in ..

My 2018 Gen3 'E85 Race' tune dialed up 32.5degrees WOT and had an aggressive ramp in .

Here's snapshot of a 2000-7000rpm 7th gear pull I logged.

That run had started with 19degrees as soon as I went WOT and hit 32.5degree and the knock sensor added another 4.5 at 2900.

That was a A10 PP1 with O/R LT's and for a Coyote, it pulled like freight train ...

FWIW, the E85 you get out of a pump isn't E85R. (I didn't know this when I got into E85 tunes)

That 15% that isn't ethanol can be high quality gas or low quality gas. Most E85 that 15% isn't anything special, but if you go buy actual E85R that 15% is a different formulation.

I cant imagine testing E85 at every fill up. Its bad enough corn burns about 40% more... Im sure a good tuner sets the parameters where you can get away with less than 85... I sure hope so otherwis we in trouble.. What a chore that would become 😬

Are you saying you are running 36+ degrees of timing? or is it 32.5 with the addition of the knock sensors?

This is why people go with tuners that can use PCMTEC to set up canbus flex fuel. There are a few hardware items you need to purchase such as the flex fuel sensor, etc; but then you no longer need to test fuel and the tune will automatically adjust fueling and timing (power) based on ethanol content.

As others have mentioned, pump e85 is vastly different than ethanol race fuels that come from can/barrel such as E85R, Ignite, Ethanol One, etc. This explains why ethanol from the pump is $3 per gallon and those can/barrel fuels are nearly $20 per gallon.

Pump e85 is low grade 84-87 octane fuel with ethanol added to it to bring up the total percentage to 58-85%. It doesn't get additives or detergents added to it. Whereas those can/barrel fuels' non ethanol component is high quality fuel /race gas.

So when you are running e70 from a pump, you basically have 30% 84-87 octane "hotdog water" making up the remainder of fuel.

I thought our cars even without pcmtec or added sensors are still tuned to adjust those parameters if say the quality of e85 isnt where it should be?

The big difference is PCMTEC utilizes a flex fuel sensor which measures the content of the fuel before the combustion cycle making it far more safer.
Stock strategy utilizes information from the wideband 02 sensors post combustion to make adjustments.

Of course PCMTEC also allows you to have 4 different tune slots that you can swap on the fly for various power levels, ghost cam, valet mode, etc.

That was a 'drag mode' tune and it had 32.5 degrees timing plus whatever the knock sensors dialed in on the hit.

And I had a couple logs showing 38 in 3rd and 4th.

We were just about finished with that tune when that car was killed.

That is way too much timing for a coyote. MBT is somewhere around 30 degrees.
I thought 20 - 21 deg is the typical timing or is there more than 1 table for adjusting timing?
