Used to be a ford mechanic for the same reason. My friend was a Porsche mechanic, for what he said was the same reason. When its all you work on all day, you only see the broken, bad side. Grow up.

When I go down the list of all the BMW's I've owned over the years, they were some seriously reliable track cars. My Fords I've owned have been some seriously reliable cars/trucks. When well maintained, and knowing what to expect in the maintenance dept. you can expect your cars to be reliable.

On that note, I put my vote back in for the eco S550, manual, recars, PP. no other options. Also, unless modded, its almost as fast as an e46 M3. Modded a bit, it will be fun.
I see more then just the "broke" and "bad". the broke is not all that comes to the dealer. There are KNOWN issues with our cars. Its not opinion. When its always the same shit thats broke on everyones car or truck it becomes the norm. Its not a matter of if with bmws its when. Ive worked at quite a few different brand dealers. I know how it is and isnt. Thanks

I love the m3 e46. I have always wanted one, but maintenance costs swayed me away. Plus the extra power out of the 5.0 :p

however there is no denying how sexy the new M4 is....I think BMW hit it out of the park with that car. Although I would have preferred they kept the V8 even if the twin6 is better performing.

Put the drugs down. How am i biased? I wouldnt put YOUR mother in a bmw. You are not an authority on this topic. I am. I have zero reason to lie. I gain nothing. Infact i lose customers by turning them away. Which i always try to turn people away. I work at bmw because unreliable cars are what make me money. Not reliable. Bmws are the pinnacle of unreliable and a status symbol. Bmw is a shell of what it used to be. If you want a GOOD bmw by an e30.
Your entire statement there is biased. I don't know if you understand the meaning of the word. I mean just look at your name that's biased too. Any car will be unreliable when rich snobs don't give 2 craps about their cars. I don't know how you know what my qualifications are for not being an "authority" on the topic but it sounds like you don't know what your talking about to me. Also I see a reason for you to lie. Your ulterior motive of not wanting to work yet still getting a paycheck. Less customers = less work. I don't get how a mechanic has any sway on vehicle purchasing either. I wouldn't walk into a dealership and be like "wheres your mechanic, I want to know how good your products are!?"

P.S. I put 150k on my 1999 3 series with only oil changes, water pumpx1, belt change, and a/c recharge. hmmm so unreliable. (Oh wait I changed the clutch out for a stage 3 clutch and put wilwood front calipers) that lowers the reliability by 10 points!

I have an iq of 141. I know what is biased and whats not. Just because my name on here is mustang guy doesnt mean i deem them the end all of cars. They are my preference, huge difference. You are assuming. My statement isnt biased. Just because i deal with them for a living and know what models have what issues doesnt make me biased. It makes me educated on the topic, unlike yourself. Your experience with your shitbox is the minority not the majority. Minorities speak the loudest. You also assume every person financial stable to have a dont give a shit attitude. Which isnt true. Your posts are assumptions. My professional diagnosis of our cars is factual. No assuming. We dont go to school to assume. I doubt youd be as cocky as to tell an engineer what is and what isnt. Dont pull that stuff with me kid. My experience trumps your back yard mechanic stuff. You arent a credible source for bmws. Bmw makes some impressive performance cars, yes. Reliable, not in the damn slightest

I always wanted an M3 after driving my buddy's 98. A few years later I was finally able to buy a 06 M3. I was surprised on how disappointed I was with the car. Never was able to take it to the road course, but it just didn't do anything for me.

6 months later I traded it in on a 11 GT...

The new M4 is outstanding performance wise but I think it is ugly AF. Just my personal opinion. My favorite is the e92. I think it is an amazing looking car. The e46 is great as well though.

I HATE the direction BMW is going with splitting out the 3 series into the 3 and 4 series with 3 being sedans and 4 being coupes. I'm not a fan of the new styling at all.

I've been a big BMW advocate over the years. It has been one of my favorite manufacturers all of my life despite my dislike for the new generation styling.

I've had an 02 M3, 01 325i, 08 335xi (loved that car), and currently have an 05 325i which I use for work and places I really don't want to park the Mustang. I've never had any problems with any of my BMW's but I might have just been lucky.

Well, what do I know, I just race them, lots of them. Never worked on them, ever. My shit also smells like roses.

I don't think pictures do the m4/m3 justice. I've seen it in person and IMO it looks fantastic.

Good. You like them and race them. Doesnt make them reliable. I see and drive more bmws then you have. its a numbers game. You dont trump my experience eithe. While impressive you are a hpde champion it isnt the same.

I've seen quite a few in person, still don't like it. There's a black one in my apartment complex which looks OK only because black hides that ugly ass front end a bit. Remember, this is just my personal opinion. Everyone has different tastes. They don't sound very good either, especially compared to the amazing sounding e92.

Lol yea I can't say I heard it much. It helps the one I saw was a perfect compliment to my S550 :D It was BMW's version of Metallic Gray with a red interior

That was just one example. My longest owned BMW. My father's owned 3ish. I've owned 4. 1989 325ix, 1999 323is, 2005 m3, and 2011 335i. And I can guarantee I know more about BMW's then most BMW people. Its scary how much I learned about them. When you know paint codes from different generations which cars were made in what years and which models you start to wonder.

You are the LEAST credible source I have ever seen even attempt to present your facts. I mean come'on are people still using "kid" and calling people they don't know uneducated? lmao If for some reason you are discriminating against younger population and calling them names and saying they're unintelligent then you are much more ignorant than I even thought in the first place. My post wasn't an assumption, they were examples excuse me next time I will include proper example notification for you less fortunate. Mr. 141 good number btw!
