I have the Airaid blue filter. What all are you using to clean your aftermarket dry filters with?

I've used Simple Green to clean mine.

Gently tap filter to remove debris.

Spray non-petroleum based cleaner on outside of filter.

Let sit for 10 minutes.

Using cold, slow tap water, rinse from the inside.

Let filter dry. Twenty-four hours is often enough.

Re-install.

How well do these AFE and similar dry filters actually filter? Can't seem to find tests on them anywhere or compensate OE.

I did see a K&N test that showed it was terrible.

I bought an AFE intake for my 01 Cummins with the dry filter. I pulled it off 6 months later to find the intake tube full of dust. Sold it and put a paper filter back on. I am running an Injen intake on the Mustang with a dry filter that looks of much better quality. I have checked it several times and found no contamination in the intake. I do still have the factory intake just in case though.

I have the Roush, as part of the Phase 2 kit. It is pretty dirty when I clean it, so I'm guessing it is filtering something. I actually have two them. I clean at 5k mark, put on the replacement and allow the other to dry and then put in a plastic bag and rotate.

I have a Roush CAI and I was told to just wash with water. No soap of any kind I just rinse in a bucket of water and use a very gentle hose which works well.

Thanks. That's what I thought. Even Steeda and proflow refuse to release filtration data on the infamous pod filters...that says it all right there.

Ok, so has anyone else's blue performance filter lost its blue color?

Mine has turned completely gray. I tought it was dirty but the cleaning just made it light gray lol. What gives? It probably has 3k miles on it.

You're post reminded me of this ^ thread.

I've yet to lose any noticeable amount of color, but it has happened with others.

I've been using cold water from the tap, at low pressure, the direction of water primarily inside-to-out. Once done, I'll rinse the outside, just letting the water run from one end to the other and not trying to force it through the material, outside-to-in.

The Air Raid filter, directly from Air Raid, and a Ford Performance filter, made by Air Raid, are one and the same design and size. I purchased the FP filter, M-9601-G, in March of 2023, from Summit Racing.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/FMS-M-9601-G

While listed and sold as a FP part, it arrived from Summit in an Air Raid Box and is branded same.

Maybe Air Raid noticed people were writing in about the dye being lost and made a change? Or there was a batch or two that went out with a dye of lesser permanence? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

Weird. Mine's still as blue as new after 8000 miles. I only vacuumed it, it's clean so haven't used any cleaners yet. I don't drive on wet roads which helps keep everything clean.

Thing is, it had lost all its color BEFORE I washed it. Not going to lie, I'm kind of annoyed. That thing wasn't cheap.

IF it's a cotton media just throw it in the dishwasher with some dawn dish detergent.

Was the injen worth it? More power?

Hard to say specifically, I added the intake, throttle body and tune all at the same time. Definitely more kick overall.
