The Ecoboost is great, the V6 is great, the Coyote is greater, and the Voodoo is greatest. Ford has done a good job of stratifying their engines in this car.

TBH, I know it's dumb, but my next purchase will either be a Mustang GT or F-150 XLT 4x4, and I want the 5.0 in either, even knowing the Ecoboost is the top motor in theF-150 lineup. Why, knowing the EB has slightly more power and a better power curve? I won't be tracking it, so my enjoyment of the V8 noise takes priority. I'd still be interested in the Mustang if they only offered a similar EB to the Fiso, but I'd be more inclined to look at the competition much more closely, especially used M3s. For primarily street-driven vehicles, it's all about the experience, not hard numbers.

Also, what is that sexy thing in your avatar? I guess that's getting off-topic.
Haha, that is a 77 Honda CB750F Super Sport that I restored into a Street tracker. It is the perfect example of hard numbers not being as important as the experience! I know what you mean about the sound- The motorcycle experience is very much about the sound. But even that isn't real anymore with engine sounds being piped through the firewall or over the audio system. I bet they could make the ecoboost sound like a V8 through the audio system if they wanted to.

Same. If there comes a time where I can't get a V8 in the Mustang (at least as a premium option) I'll simply look elsewhere.

Have read the entire thread and enjoyed it. It made me feel better about the V6. The V8 is just out of my price range, period! The V6 is better than the other performance cars in it's price range and a better daily driver for me. I still have to take a Mustang home to try in my driveway (steep). You guys might not beleive me, but if they send me home in a GT. I WILL NOT try it out. I WILL NOT do a hard pull. Because I know it will RUIN my enjoyment of the V6. I did test drive a V6 recently. At first the sales guy brought around an ecoboost, and I was like no, I'm not driving that. I knew I would like it but I don't want a turbo. I want a long lasting reliable daily driver that I can afford. HE brought around a V6 and it was nice. Not super fast. Felt like my 2005 Acura RL (which I know is slower) so power is adequate. And I spent more time just driving gently in it. I saw that it has some power when you want it but in the 95% of my driving, it was very comfortable, smooth, and, quiet. Which is high praise from an RL owner. It's not my RL, not by a longshot from a practicality and luxury standpoint. But it was more enjoyable than all the $25K cars I have tried out. The V6 is not a woman's car. All the women I see have GT's! It's a car for a hard working man like me who has to pay for FOUR people and not just myself. Ford was thinking of ME when they made the V6. If it were not for the V6 model, I would not even be here on this site. In the past, the V6 models were slow, but 6 seconds 0-60 is not slow. My Acura does it in 7 to 7.5 I think and I'm happy with that. Dang my Acura, it does things the Mustang will not. Computer controlled 4WD. It's amazing. Awesome everything. But it has northern rust and is 11 years old now... I still enjoy driving it every day.

Good for you and I think you made the right choice! Btw I did a 0-60 in 5.7 seconds with mine, and I've seen others so the same at least. You'll love it! Keep an eye out as I'm doing a build on my car and there are a few other V6 owners on here doing some cool stuff with theirs as well. :ford::ford::ford:

Yep.
No need to tour a $400K home if you can only afford a $250K home. Doing so you'll focus on what you are not getting, versus what you are getting.

Man, get your Acura fixed if you like it so much. In SC, it won't rust any further. Great cars. I traded a Honda in on my Ecoboost and and as much as I like the Mustang, I miss the reliability of the Honda already. My car has the dreaded drive-line vibration problem that Ford can't seem to fix or even figure out where it is coming from. Make sure you drive the car you are thinking of buying extensively on a smooth road. Make sure the tires are inflated properly. Mine had 40# in them which masked the DL vibration with road roughness. Service manager told me they drove the other Mustangs on the lot and 2 of them had the vibration problem. I'm guessing 20-30% have the problem.
My driveway had a large hump at the top where the rain gutter is. Most low cars won't go over it but the Mustang clears it OK except for the little plastic flap that hangs down in front of the rear wheels. They can be trimmed... Let us know what you end up getting.

I came from a 2001 V6 Mustang.
The 2016 GT is...there are no words.

Yeah the bottom end is weaker than the top, but it still pulls like a beast from 3k to redline.

I probably would have purchased a V6 if it had the same options available as the GT does, but it doesn't so "woe is me, I'm stuck with the V8".

I might be the only guy on this Forum that traded a Coyote Mustang for a Cyclone Mustang. And I'm really HAPPY with the V-6...I Know, I Know, you're all thinking this old Dufus is surely crazy as a loon. But I really enjoy this no falderal motor. And this little vert was $14,000 cheaper than the fully equipped GT convertible that I went shopping for. I'm waiting for Ford to reintroduce the MachI before I return to the Coyote Mustangs. In the mean time, I'm enjoying the $14k more than the My Little Pony Puddle Lights I only thought I needed. Kinda fun going to meetups and having the only Cyclone Pony.

Ah jeez! I already have a Honda CR-V with the vibration issue. Now you're telling me the Mustang has it too? I don't think there is a problem free car out there. And the rust on my Acura has gotten worse, but slowly. I'm just done with it, and don't want to invest any more into it.

V6 vs GT is completely relative based on expectations, value and care-abouts. I personally haven't driven one before today. I went and did about a 45 minute test drive in a base S550 GT. In normal, around town driving it was an absolute blast to drive. Accelerations and shifting through the gears is just plain awesome. However, once on the highway/interstate for some spirited driving it was actually pretty underwhelming with my experience of the V6. I really think the manual V6 really does shine and keep up in this category(again, relatively speaking. Obviously GT>V6). My overall conclusion is not worth $10k+ price tag, but a bit more envious of all your guys' GTs.

Damn i cant seem to get faster than 6.2 in my v6. I really need to learn how to properly launch my car.

I'm talking about the later 4.6 in the S197 (300hp/300Ib-ft). I owned the one in my sig for 7 years. In recent years the Ford engineers have been really good at squeezing every bit of performance and efficiency out of their engines.

Coyote is the latest example of that. Comparing manual-to-manual it's only going to be a tenth of a second slower to 60 than the 6G Camaro that has 15 more horses, and 55 more pound-feet, and weighs less. That's damn impressive, and to get the performance they did out of the 4.6 in the later years was equally impressive.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree on the 4.6. 300 HP out of the 4.6 is disgraceful in my opinion. What a boat anchor! That number is ok from a V6, but it is very low for a V8, unless the displacement is well under 4 liters.

They should have been making at least 350 - 370 with 4.6 liters when it first came out in the Mustang in 96. And after they had many years to tweak the design they should have been closer to 400 or above 400 HP. To me the 4.6 was a wasted design. They could have just slapped a better set of heads on the pushrod 302 and made more than 300 HP. With the 302 the car could have been significantly smaller and lighter as well.
