Hi
I can’t really explain why at the moment but if I were to drill a small hole say 1cm in the valve of the active exhaust valves would this make quiet mode slightly louder with the hole ?

thanks

Yes. But Just open the valve in increments if it’s electric via a position switch.

Wish I could but quiet to normal mode is a big jump. I wish I could control the valve to be very slightly opened in quiet mode but I can figure out how to do that.

Can i ask why you want quiet mode to be slightly louder?

So, I had quiet mode tuned on the active exhaust. Basically now the valves are tuned to the gas pedal. The more I press the gas the more they open. It’s really worked out well and gives the exhaust a really nice dynamic feel to it.

I just want the quiet mode when the valves are completely closed to be a little louder.
unfortunately I can’t tune the valve to be open very slightly which would help so drilling a hole would be the next best solution. I’m just worried it may cause some kind of whistling noise if I drill the hole.

You can with HPTuners. this function is editable. You can tell it how far to open depending on mode, as well as throttle position, RPM, load. This way , no matter what mode you are in, you can set it to open when you mash the throttle

It will sound awful if you drill a hole in it. You’ll be lucky if it doesn’t whistle, it’s gonna be a mess of chuffing and puffing sounds.

the reason the jump is so great between quiet and normal is because the sound doesn’t really linearly follow valve position. You could tweak it in the tune and what you’ll find is that there’s a point where it just gets really loud with a small change in valve position.

the valve needs to be basically fully closed to be really quiet, and then after a small change in angle it gets noticeably louder.

Tour best option is to tweak it in the tune. I’m betting what you’ll really want it to keep the valve closed more often, you can close it more in the high RPM areas to the tune and it should quiet it down more.

PcMtech or HP tuners. You can change the percentage the valve is open. Its one option I wish I didnt buy. I alway set it to track.
