In November I installed a Roush Phase 2 supercharger and it's obvious that with street tires all that power isn't going to work at wot thru first, second and third. My cars a PP with Michelins. I really like my PP wheels so I'm wondering if a Nitto 555 G2 drag radial 275 would make enough difference to be worthwhile. The other option is to buy two wider PP style wheels and get wider tires. After dropping the money for the supercharger I'm watching my money... Well kinda. Thanks in advance for the help. There's a wealth of knowledge on this forum.

Does anyone make wider PP1 style wheels?

As far as whether or not the Nittos would "make enough difference to be worthwhile", that's completely subjective.

MMR makes these in a 19X11. Not exact but close. I just want to run the drag radials during summer local driving so just buying a pair of those with 305`s might be the way to go?

These are close and are 19X11 which would handle a 305. I just want to run them locally during the summer. I'm kind of answering my own questions. Lol. Your thoughts?

They're close, but not really the same thing.

Anyways.......subjectively, I'd bet those Nittos would be a decent improvement, especially at that width.

I don't have any experience personally with the 275 size 555r2 only 345, but in my opinion a 275 555r2 will definitely be a traction improvement over a mps4s in a 275. I used to have a pp 15 mt 6 d1sc gt and bought 2 American muscle replica pp wheels in 19x10 and ran a 305 35 r19 nt05r and they were night and day over stock perellies that it came with. Would loose traction at the top of first slightly on a cold day or when the tires were due for replacement. 2nd and 3rd wot no problem. Car was on 10psi 91 octane 3.73 rear gear

That's probably the way to go. I'll just leave the stock tires on the front. Thanks for the feedback. Is your car supercharged?

P1x stg 2 on 4.75 stock pulley, I'm seeing 7.5 psi at 7300ish, soon to move to a 4.25 or 4.0 when I install a fuel system and switch to e85

American muscle makes a PP1 wheel clone in a 19x10 size, and you can put a 305 tire on it. It's not ideal for cornering ability and handling, but for daily driving with a drag radial they will be fine.

The 555 r2 in a 305/35/19 has a minimum wheel width of 10" so you can run them.

About a month ago there was a thread where this guy found some PP1 replica wheels on ebay in 19x10/11 sizes

You’ll see huge improvements running the Nitto 555R2 in 275/40/19 on the back on your performance pack wheels. No need to drop money on different wheels. The R compound is the game changer and not so much going up in the width. I ran 275/35/20 Nitto R2 on my 19 Roush Stage 3 and worked like a charm.

Nitto 555g2 is not a drag radial, that would be the 555rii. G2 is what you would run in the front. There would certainly be an improvement swapping out for r2’s but you won’t be putting power down.

Also realize a big part of increasing contact patch is increasing overall diameter, so don’t sacrifice tire height for width.

you’ll need a 305 probably on 18’s or smaller with a tall tire to put all that down

Thanks for the info. That's exactly what I'm looking for. I don't recognize the brand name but will check it out. Thanks again.

You are actually able to run a 305/35 on a 19x9.5.

Realistically, the tire is larger than the wheel, so you will have some tire overhang and you really only use about 285mm of contact. This is the most cost effective option to get grip now that you have boost.

However, there is a very cost effective wheel and tire package that we also offer that uses a 17x10 Forgestar F14 Drag Wheel with a 305 Nitto NT555 RII Drag tire and that style of the F14 is similar to your PP1 wheel.

That's exactly what I did. Thanks for the tip. Got a heck of a deal on the Nitto 555r2 on of all places amazon. By applying for their Prime credit card they took $100 off and then another $60 for some other thing I'll never use. Totaled $616 at checkout and free shipping.
