Spraying the handles also cause the locks to cycle since the handle has a conductive sensor. Like everyone else said, either set the key down about 5 foot away or leave it inside the car. No issues unless you lock the doors before getting out of the car.

Damn, this happens to me with my F-150. Never thought to leave the key in the truck.

Cause the one time the system fails it will be big problem and big bucks to fix. My solution is the cheapskate solution.
What will you do the day it fails and you're inside the car? lol

I never realized this annoyed people. I've washed my car for almost a year and I hardly notice anymore.

I started putting my keys in the car thanks to this thread, and it doesn't spaz anymore while I wash it.

At least in that case I can get out....Wait, where's the mechanical lock lever? WTF Ford? Am I supposed to drown in a crashed car in the water if the door lock won't operate? Can't be right.... Willing to bet the inside door handle also unlocks it. Will try today.

But back to the point, at least the key is in my hand and yeah you need a repair, but you don't need an electronic car locksmith to come out. We're talking about years down the road when the car is old and out of warranty and we're trying to keep them as long as possible. Ford is not going to help you. We'll be on our own with issues with door handles and BCM.

Still don't know why people are leaving keys in the car after reading this, that was a no no with regular keys. Just good habit. I NEVER locked my keys in the car, not once. Habits.

The doors don't lock with they fob inside. That's why.

I'm glad to hear the doors won't lock with the key in it. I was tolerating the lock cycling but I think that will lead to premature wear over time.

Can they be locked with you and the fob on the inside? As in I don't want to be knifed by the bad guy standing outside my car.
