So I washed my car for the first time yesterday and two things bothered me. First, the lights come on I assume from the rain detection sensor. That kind of bugs me. The second thing, which really bugged me was the door handle lock/unlock sensors must have cycled 20 times per side. Every time I touched the area they triggered. Found out while drying it I could open the door to prevent this, but don't feel like washing it with the doors open, lol. Anyone else have a problem with this and come up with a way to avoid this?

Take the keys out of your pocket and it will not do this.

Damn, sometimes it's the simple little things. Thanks, I should have thought of that, doh.

The fob only have to be like 3 or 4 feet away for it to stop doing that.

No, the close proximity of the keyfob causes the door locks to cycle.
What he said. It will not hurt anything, it is just that you are touching the part of the door handle that causes it to lock and then unlock if the key is on you/in very close proximity. Just mildly annoying.

Disconnect the ground while washing but leave car unlocked. Or try leaving the keys in a lead box!

I have a small pouch that blocks signal transmissions. I put my key fob in that when I go to the car wash or leave my car in a parking lot. You can also wrap in aluminum foil too.

The fob should be away from the car when washing. Back in my RL days and on those forums people reported problems with the touch handles after washing. It was decided that the keys should be far enough away not to cause problems.

If it's inside the car there are no issues. No locking/unlocking.
