Hey folks! Are the door locks supposed to be locking and unlocking when we wash our cars? I can understand when I wash the door handles they do that but even when rinsing the car off they will lock and unlock. I've never owned a key-less car so maybe it's normal because the key fob is in my pocket?

I wash my car at an apartment complex I used to live in (my current apartment doesn't have one) that has a wash rack and there's no where to put my key fob other than my pocket. IDK... I probably answered my own question here by just figuring out how NOT to have the fob near the car but I'd like to hear what you think.

I had that same thing happen to me when I wash the car. Not sure if it was supposed to happen. The lights kept going on and off.

Its the sensors, it did it on my Focus ST as well. Want a fix so it doesnt happen? Put your key in the car, the car will stay unlocked, you cant lock the key in the car with the fob inside. ;) Easy fix. Its normal. A friends BRZ does the same thing.

That happens on my wifes Journey--as you move your hand around the front doors the locks activate--they don't know your washing the car. I just take my fob out of my pocket

Not sure if trolling... LOL! That really works? It makes sense though and really makes it impossible to lock your keys in the car. Thanks!

My BMW does it as well. The car senses the key on the outside and picks up that it is being touched, giving it the trigger to lock and unlock. Either leave key in the car or place it somewhere that you can remeber to find afterwards.

Yep that works! I just went out and rolled my windows down (just in case), tossed my keys on the seat and attempted to lock the car. Perfect solution. Thanks guys!

One could say our ladies are very sensitive to being touched aye?

Maybe the cars think we're just getting frisky with them and it turns them on? :p
But I noticed the same thing with mine. And when it is wet it sometimes cannot distinguish between grabbing the back of the handle to unlock, or the lock button area.
