My car has been in the dealer for 3 months. The service rep already bumped down the working hours on my car to save me some money. But I still have to pay a $5k bill.

Does anyone know what I can ask for to see if they’d lower my bill even more?

Warranty didn’t cover these repairs due to previous owner installing aftermarket parts (I didn’t know this when buying the car from a used car dealership)

Why would they lower the bill any more…? Serious question. You need the work done and you’re not shopping it around. And it’s neither the dealers fault or Ford’s fault. They literally have no reason to move one inch. Textbook case as to why I don’t buy used cars. With a brand new car, if someone screws up, it’ll be me damn it. Haha 😂

Ford doesn’t offer any loaner cars. I’ve spent almost $1k on rentals. When I first brought it in, they told me a week turnaround time, so I rented a car for a week. Then at the end of the week, then said one more week, so I rented another car. Eventually after that they kept saying one more week, then “just a few more days” and now we’re here, 3 months. That’s why I’m just curious if anyone knows of any ways I can get another discount, because they had me waiting for such a long time, without a car.

Not that I know of. The only parts they waited for was last week. But other than that the car has just been sitting there and feels like it’s been worked on whenever the tech wants to. But I’m not there so I can’t say for sure, that’s just my annoyed assumption.

Any dealership I deal with has service loaners. Their taking forever to fix my car isn't my problem, it's theirs.

I would suggest you start looking for another dealership to do business with

3 months??

What was done to the car to cause warranty denial and what is wrong that the dealer cannot fix?

My wife complains about me keeping my '12 Edge beater as a 3rd car but it has saved me and my family tons of money on vehicle rental alone. My daughter drove it for 4 months after her car was totaled during the pandemic because a decent replacement was so hard to find for a reasonable price.

I don't mind used cars. A year or two old vehicle can save you a lot of money.
It's modified car I avoid like the plague. You never know what was really done or if it was done right.
You should always have any used car inspected but especially a sports car with an eye towards mods.

Leaking valve covers - Warranty covered.
Previous owner, installed an aftermarket, clutch and flywheel, which supposedly didn’t fit properly, and that caused there to be a gap between the crank tone ring and flywheel, causing it the tone ring to slide out of its position and misalign, and misfire in the whole engine and throw it into limp mode. - not covered by warranty

3 months to replace a clutch and flywheel? 5K.

Something don't smell right.

Diagnostic fees are also included into the $5000. They charge $180/h

I'd be all over their ass. I don't think clutches and flywheels are on back order, the tone wheel and holder might be, but they should tell you what is going on.

Have you called Ford customer care?

When my car was recently in the shop for a month for a weird issue when turning (turned out to be my steering rack), dealership had already asked Ford for me if they would help cover some of the cost and Ford agreed.

They ended up paying for about 70% of the bill.

I believe it helped that I have ordered two brand new Mustangs thru this dealership and continue to go there for service/etc. They have gone in my opinion above and beyond for me.

I was also able to see on my paperwork what I believe says that Ford authorized up to 5k in goodwill $$ towards me personally for issues I guess, which was interesting.
