I find them very entertaining. My favorite car was a Dodge Aires (K-car) that had a hood scoop made of woodā€¦yes, a wood scoop.

I used to love car shows but haven't been to one in decades.

When I was in high school, I had a deal with a local toy and hobby shop that I could set up a booth at the annual auto show and sell their stock on consignment. Model car kits, cheap one channel RC cars, posters, stuff like that. I could usually clear about $500 or $600 bucks for a weekends worth of work which (esp. back in the late '70s) was a very nice payday for a high school kid.

One year, they had a Penthouse model running around taking promotional pictures with all the cars, and I got them to take a pic of her at my booth. I lost it many years ago though.

Iā€™ve never entered a car, been to a cars and coffee on accident once, when I went to get coffee. It was okay.
Not really a show type person. Iā€™d rather drive.

Itā€™s much cooler (only my opinion of course) to walk around at the track and talk to people about their cars and what works for them, or made them faster on track.

Love them, whether I have a car to enter or notā€¦ hereā€™s one I entered last weekend, so much fun seeing all the cars in general and talking to other Mustang owners about their rides. Prizes, DJ, food trucks, 442 cars packed into our little 2 street town.

My wife and I enjoy going to car shows. We have a local one in town thats once month with a nice mix of classics and modern cars. Thereā€™s no prizes or anything, more of a community thing, gets set up around town hall. Iā€™ve ā€œenteredā€ my car in that one a couple of times last year, but again thereā€™s no judging or anything. We meet up with another couple to walk and talk and look, and might happen upon some other people we know. Have never done cars and coffee, but would give it a try.

Very cool! There's a group that organizes something similar on a couple of streets in downtown Newburyport, MA every August. Been a couple of times. Fun time, great to talk to people that cover the whole spectrum of our hobby.

I was thinking those formal, organized events that take way too long to hang around and see who wins via crooked judge's decisions.... Just kidding! šŸ˜‡

I have entered my car in a few shows that I like to go to. I look at it as a parking fee to avoid the door dingers of the world.

I like car shows with older customs, but I don't really want to look at any stock, unmodified cars. And most newer, modified cars are not that great to look at either. Color coding or a power adder or wheels - I think it's great that people do it and I'm impressed by people's vision at times, but I don't want to go to a car show to see that kind of stuff.

And I've never owned a car that I thought someone else would want to see at a car show. There was a car show here in town that I used to enter my '70 convertible in, but that was because entering the car was cheaper than buying tickets.
