which Ford Powertrain Engineering department took 3 years to identify I guess. Normally you do the engineering BEFORE product rollout. :)
Possibly the “Copy and Paste” syndrome that’s become a plague.

It's the "Computer says it will work" engineering.

Honesty, such a serious problem !
The amount of corrupt “Copy and Paste” information is debilitating, from general arrangement drawings to detailed piping ISO’s and P&ID’s in my profession. I can’t imagine the issues at the OEM level.

100% not correct. Every coyote's oil cap for 10 years said 5w-20. But you all are smarter than Ford's R/D department.
The trick here, is that Ford, as a vehicle producer, has different goals than you or I. We might want more power, or more reliability. Ford has to consider fifty other things, including a budget. You might not care if oil is $90, and I might not care if I lose .1 mpg, but the car companies make decisions based on that. Thats why they put things in the manual like "for track use Ford recommends 5W-50"

we agree ... kind of. Some manuals call for 5w30 for TRACK USE.

Next time go LOOK at some cars before you make trivially provable false statements, eh?

Youre hilarious. I post proof of Ford documentation, you post nonsensical jibberish about what you've read on Facebook.

Ive owned/built/raced more coyote cars than you've seen in mindless web browsing.

carry on

I took @shogun32 advice and went ahead and took a look at one of these cars (my own lmaoooooo).

I thought my eyes might be deceiving me, so I consulted the trusty owners manual that people like @shogun32 surely wrote.

Strange... for TRACK USE it calls for 5w30 and actually states (lol) when done racing to drain the 5w30 and refill with 5w20.

Well shit.

Here's the greatest part... I don't even run 5w20 in my own car (yes I beat on it regularly, unlike OP).. I actually run 5w30

But to sit here and ARGUE on the internet that you CANNOT or SHOULD NOT RUN 5w20 (temporary blip! lolololol) is absolutely stupid and should be called out.

In fact -- for people who LIGHTLY use their 5.0 Mustang... 5w20 is the correct choice.

Copy & Paste along with AI as the proof reader……
Who knows, but what we do know is a set of human eyes almost likely are not proof reading before the Print shop puts ink to paper. If human eyes are used to proof read most likely those eyes are preoccupied looking at Face Book or Instabrag or TikTok….

More on the "temporary blip" from 2011 to 2021.

2011 coyote mustang owner's manual.

Doubtful if for over 10 years in multiple sections of the manual covering track use and non track use. Also... language in F150 manuals is similar (replace track with towing or heavy duty use etc etc), not exact, but similar.

It's a dumb conversation anyway.

At this post.... .Use what you want to use. Ford has appeared to have changed their mind on oil spec after a decade of 5w20 advice.

They probably changed to the 5w30 recommendation due to owners NOT changing oil frequently enough.

Im sure you think you're funny, but my 19 also says 5w20. Now go outside like a good boy and look at a late year 21 or 22+. And then tell me Ford didn't change the cap and manual. K?

The only time 5w20 disgraced my engine was the first 500 miles from new. I threw that water out and been using 5w30/40 or mixing in 10w40 when I feel like it.

Next thing you'll tell me I imagined Ford changed the rotor venting in 21 for all the 4-pots. Because your car and those from the previous 15 years also had it the wrong way ..
