DIY trunk pull strap

I used this method too. Worked fine until I added the Steeda Trunk pop kit. Now pulling the strap brings down the trunk but I still need to push it closed.

I just installed the Steeda Trunk Pop Kit- I replaced the "Remove Before Flight"- with 550 cord- and still have to touch the truck- I do like that one pulling from the center..

I did this on my 2015 which I sold last year, and when I bought my 2022 I missed the strap I had made.
Small enough to let go when gravity takes over and closes my truck with a PP1 Spoiler with wicker bill no so rough. It’s simply a keychain where I made the bolt hole bigger.
works like a charm.

BTW I was a Blackhawk crew chief, and on preflight I did “pull” on the remove before flight gear. Seam natural to me as I’m closing the truck. lol

I like the center mount idea the best, ordered the black & white pull. Will black out the pull lettering, it is not something that needs to be shouting look @ me.

Yes, definitely agree about the color. At least there are a couple options. I may order the black one too. There's a diy one on there for half the price, but you have to make the cuts in the plastic latch cover yourself. I think for something like this I'd rather just a quick plug and play process and not make a project out of it.

I had a different approach to solve this problem. Trunk lock, behind the black plastic cover already has two screws and nuts. I burned two holes (left and right) to the strap, pop out the plastic cover, remove the nuts, pass the straps newly made holes through the screws, put back and tighten the nuts, put back the plastic cover. This way no hardware needed, only the choice of color strap.

I contacted the company and he said he'll be getting more back in stock within a couple weeks. But I kind of like CYBERDIM's idea as well with the generic strap from Amazon. I may go that route as well. More choices of color and cheaper

Thanks for the heads up! But yea, I agree CYBERDIM's solution is neater with ore scope for personal choice of colour etc. And I like the location of the strap in the middle.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I went the diy way as well. Getting the plastic latch cover off was the hardest part. Used a hot poker from our fire to burn and seal the holes in the strap. Added extra nuts instead of removing the stock ones. Went for the super stealthy strap colour and length. I’m happy with it. Works perfectly.

Are y’all using this with steeda trunk struts? Seems like it woukd take quite a yank to get it closed and not get you hand caught with them, versus a light push on the spoiler to latch the trunk.
