Anyone try drilling out the honeycomb while bumper still on? I really rather not pull the bumper off although it looks easy. I would love to see it open with a black pony if anyone has this done

+1, wondering the same. I'm sure the recommendations will be "take it off" but seeing how deep it is makes me wonder if it can just be done externally. I ordered a replacement grill that I was going to cut and put on that should be here next week... When it gets here, I may just try cutting it from the outside since I would have a spare.

Powder Coated Aluminum Mesh

I just completed mine. Followed the procedure shown using a gloss black powder coated mesh sheet from Custom Car Grills. The 16" x 48" was more than enough to do all six sections.

The only tip I can add is before discarding the cut-out honeycomb bits, you can use it as a template to mark and bend the mesh. The aluminun mesh I used was easy to cut with snips, but tough to bend accurately. This template helps account for the curvature of the grille.

LOL! Jon it is pretty easy really:headbang:. I will be installing the new Custom Car Grilles mesh kit on my Vert this afternoon. The website has instruction on how to cut it out and with the kit being pre-bent it goes on pretty easy. From the back it looks like a hot mess but from the front it looks amazing. Will post installed pics when tomorrow. Total with the GT grilles and the kit, I am at about $250 total. Just dreading the 7mm bolts removal:shrug:

Does the kit come with the upper and lower grill? I have the v6 and I'm looking for a new grill stuck between this and the mmd v series

Well actually they have not put this item on their website except as a coming attracting. If they go true to form, they will offer the DIY kit which is the metal parts and adhesive or, you can order the whole thing complete. I like the real metal look and feel of this kit. MMD is too "heavy" in the thick plastic look for my tastes but to each his own. PM me is you have any questions.
