So I have a 19 mustang GT and I bought a mesh grill kit from custom car grilles I think it was 80$ and I was going to cut out my grille and insert the mesh but I think I will see the active grille shudder through the grill once done. Also I plan on getting the hellion twin turbo kit in the future so it will come out for the intercooler install I'm sure. Should I just remove it? I have heard you can remove the motor and ziptie it to the crash bar to keep it from throwing a light. I don't know a whole lot about that system but from what I've read it's just a fuel economy thing. I autocross the car and plan on hiring some road course tracks in June. Would this hurt my performance or cooling in any way? I am more about function than form so if it really works for more than gas milage I'll try and keep it but it's also front weight I wouldn't mind loosing some. Also any ideas for other small mods when in there to increase cooling or performance in any way let me know. I plan on doing it next weekend. Thanks all

Shutters must go.
as you mentioned:
In order to prevent a code, remove the motor from the shutters and leave.it plugged into the harness.
tuck it under the crash bar, the computer will think the shutters are still there.
the shutters will not fit with the intercooler.

The removal will not negatively affect cooling in any way.
shutters are there for fast start up warming and for "fuel economy" during cruising.

Awesome! Do you know roughly how much they weight? If not I'll just weigh them when I take them out I'm sure it's not much but every little thing helps with this heavy girl

I removed the whole assembly, motor and all, and have had no warning lights or trouble codes.

You won't get a warning code that will throw a check engine light, but it will have a stored code when you check it with a reader.
It says "no communication with AGS"

I checked for stored codes with my Cobb tuner and there was nothing at all.

Try an OBd2 scan tool. It will be there.

Please post pics of it done if you don't mind. I have had the same kit in my Ebay cart for probably about 6 months now and would love to know about the install and how they look on a Magnetic car.

Thanks

Ok so it took me about 2 days but that's taking my time and letting epoxy dry. The bumper removal is really easy the grille removal is not as the clips are stuff af and they are plastic so i kept feeling like I was going to break them but I did not.

Active grille crap removed and it did weight about 6.5 lbs I have noticed it takes slightly longer to warm up but not bad at all and no check like after 3 drive cycles

I love how it came out. I have been monitoring iat and they were staying around 5-7 degrees from ambient temp befor. I getting around 3-5 degrees off now and the temps drop significantly faster when you start driving after sitting
