I got the Gt350/Mach1 trans+diff kit from OP Mustang, really nice that they give you everything needed including 2 hand pumps and a spool of teflon tape. They also have nice instruction with the module/code to cycle the diff-cooler pump. This was the first change of the factory fluid. Car is on its second set of tires and just changed all the fluid, a new set of brake pads and fluid flush before a weekend at Road Atlanta follow by a 2 day autox event. Trans had a noticeable (positive) change in feel and going by the trip meters I’m getting about 1.5mpg better mileage on the street šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø.

1 hour on track equates to 15-25% oil life depending on how hard you are pushing.
Yeah I see the same, my events run 20 minute sessions plus a bit of idling in grid and partial laps for warmup and cooldown. It’s about 5% per session. I reset the meter but also use the Trip2 to keep track of miles/hours on the oil. I’ve seen it get down to 50% in 1k miles/100 hours 🤣

I guess you guys have seen this, but to add it to this thread :

I’m curious what it would take to trigger the rear-diff temp warning in a car with a cooler. I believe I read somewhere the pump comes on just over 200*F, long highway trips the ā€œanalogā€ gauge will get to just a tick over 200* but doesn’t seem to be enough to trigger the pump, even on track I’ve never seen it go over what would be about 250* and I believe I head the pump running when I stalled the car once coming off track.

What temperature does this message trigger at? I was hoping that it came on earlier rather than later. The answer thanks to a forum member and mechanical engineer at Ford : 293 degrees Fahrenheit.
P188A Differential Oil Temperature Too High / Too Low:

This DTC sets in continuous memory when the differential oil temperature exceeds 145° C (293° F).

Do you have Tremec? There was a post about checking the coolant level in the trans is a bit difficult (https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/dead-spot-in-throttle.180624/post-3861747). I wonder if I should do it on mine and what it would taky. First probably check the fluid, then eventually replace it.
Not that I track it, but had to have a refill last year (broke the trans cooler and lost the original filling) and I am not sure the shop did it right.

I changed the differential fluid today on my 22 Mach 1 A10, Recaro's, with the Handling Package.

3300 miles, 3 track days so far.

I checked the level after removing the fill plug and I was SHOCKED. Took the measurement twice, it was 5/8" (0.625") below the bottom of the hole. It's supposed to be 9mm = .354 "

Collected all the gear oil in a clean oil drain pan, when I was done, I poured it back into an oil jug with graduations on the side, just slightly and mean barely over 1.5 quarts.

I pumped just barely under 2 quarts of new Valvoline 75W-90 Full Synthetic with the LSD friction modifier in the gear lube.

Really thankful I did this before going back to the track this Saturday, but scratching my head in amazement that it was that freakin low from the factory !!! Clearly close to 1/4" low on the level stick and nearly a pint by comparing what I took out versus what I put back in.

When I was done, the level was 9 mm. Used a quality nylon tie wrap that I bent at 90 degrees to get it in the hole. Measured twice to make sure I was right on.

Just an FYI ford has a history of putting the bare minimum of fluids in the car, and refrigerant in the A/C system. Think about it, if they short every mustang a quart of gear oil in the rear diff, they save what $10 per car, plus a pound of refrigerant in the A/C is how much? Probably 95% of owners will never notice the low A/C, as long as it has the minimum charge it will work, but not at optimum efficiency. My advice, if you're going to track the car, make sure all your fluids are topped off before your first outing.

Just want to throw this out there, I used the 75W90 Valvoline with LS additive in my 3.15 diff, it worked fine as long as temps were 50 or higher. Cool mornings and the diff would groan pulling out of my driveway and for the first couple turns from a dead stop. I added a little Ford friction modifier and it shut right up.

In my experience of one, traclok’s are very noisy (especially under the conditions you mention) without the friction modifier.

I don’t think Torsen’s are as sensitive to it.

How many metal did you find when you changed your fluid? How many miles did you put on the oil before changing it?

If I'm not wrong it's supposed to be "filled for life" (not that I believe that), I will change mine for sure as well the ATF in the gearbox at some point, just didn't yet decided where the point is.

Approx 2.5k miles :

I cleaned up my plugs and there was actually a lot more crap on them than I expected as the magnet is recessed, this is 2.5k of reasonably enthusiastic road miles :

Mine has 7500Km of "reasonably enthusiastic road miles " šŸ˜‡.
I guess it's scheduled for the next oil service then, thank you very much WD.

I changed mine at 3,300 miles. Biggest reason, is the owner's manual warnings about if using the car at the track, then the frequency for oil and gear oil changes drops to stupid low intervals, like every couple of track days....

My magnetic drain plug at 3,300 miles had less build up than the one pictured above, but similar in sort of milky gray color, no metal bits, just very fine film.

If you're not taking the car to the track, I suppose you could go for a very long time.

Having said that, I would highly recommend that you or your mechanic open the drain plug and check the level. I figure mine was between 1 and 1.5 pints low. Really pretty sad from the factory on a 2022 brand new car ???

I think the build up on mine (which you won't get if your referring to your mach = torsen) is the clutch material :like:
