My car is getting some work done - diff swap and RLCA bushings. The mechanic sent me these pictures - he said they have to order a new bracket. Did this happen to anyone ? I'm guessing if Steeda Stop the Hop kit caused this or something else ?

Not sure what your Mechanic is doing or did - but that top picture clearly shows that someone used a torch on that bracket by the visible burn marks.

Did he also snap the bolt?

I mean, need more info as to what he is trying to show you. If he damaged the bracket while trying to R&R, then you shouldn’t be paying for what he damaged.

Need more of the story…

I agree that a torch appears to have been used in that area. Please help us understand the entire story leading up to this.

1. Were you experiencing problems (clunking or strange noises) of some sort that led to having to remove the bracket?

2. Was the bolt over torqued, causing the head to break off?

3. Was The other side affected too?

Yeah I dropped my car to swap the differential (changing to 4.09 gears), install Steeda red diff inserts, RLCA bearings. He send me these pics saying that a new bracket needs to be ordered and will take few more days to finish my car. When I asked him how this might have happened, he said possibly due to Steeda STH kit. I'll find more details when picking up the car

I was having a weird creaking noise at low speeds when backing out of driveway or driving over small bumps at low speeds. It's removed to install Steeda red diff inserts possibly and also RLCA bushings. The other side is fine, just this one side. I don't know if the bolt was over torqued, had Steeda STH kit installed 2 years ago and I never recall having to mess with that bracket since then

At what point did he decide to use a torch on that bolt?

We knew Steeda parts are "hot" but damn..

Maybe the mechanic was having issues with the bolt and decided to use a torch.

I fail to see how the rear subframe support caused that issue.

I wonder if the bolt was torqued to the wrong spec and the head snapped off, thus making it necessary to heat up the bolt to remove it?

I'm sorry for the late response guys. I just picked up my car yesterday from the shop and the mechanic told me he couldn't get the bolt off so he had to use a torch. They ordered a new bracket and installed it
