Don't know the difference in with the intakes and other compatibility problems...but why not delete DI on a gen 3 aluminator for use in a gen2 car?

You would have to get some sort of fuel pump block off and injector plugs or something

can you run a gen 3 engine with a gen 2 ECU?

Well running gen 3 with gen 2 electronics becomes easier if no DI is used...right?

Ford changed the exhaust cam phazer on gen 3 so the only way this will work is if you use gen 2 heads. I'm not sure if a gen 3 ECU will run a gen 2 car.

I’d get a gen3 shortblock, with gen 2 type heads and electronics.

Gen 3 bottom, Gen 2 heads, Gen 1 timing/chains gears. While you are at it get the upgraded OPGs, chain and sprockets.

Should run run with a Gen 2 ECU since the business end is all Gen 2. It wind care about the short block or cam drives
So to tune it would need to go back to gen 1 timing range?

In my opinion it would be the same tune you would use in a Gen 2 since the heads, cam and phasers would dictate the tune, and of course the induction system you plan to use. Something like this would lend itself best to a dyno, but I think the base point would be Gen 2.

Gen 2 has a mid lock intake cam phaser, gen 1 does not. This is where my question comes from.
Lots of tune changes required.
I think I'd stay with gen 2 timing components.
