i was nervous about my order but the quality of it has been great. just make sure when it comes in you pay close attention to the paint and panel alignment and take photos. press the dealer to have their body shop or one they work with do some adjustments to get it right, at least as right as one can with a ford.

i've never had one but i've heard my entire life that land rover's are junk. at least the fancy ones we get.
Me too although I'd never buy a Land Rover; they are way over priced IMO. I was considered a Giulia but ruled it out when I starting researching and saw how many problems they had that often came along with long wait times for replacement parts. I still like it, I'm a sucker for the sporty sedans but think I did much better with the mustang.

I recently discovered that my Deck Lid is off center by about 1/4 inch with barely a gap on one side and a little over 1/4 inch on the other. I can ā€˜t believe I didn’t notice earlier. Also my automatic driver side seat rubs when it is all the way forward. I’m short so it happens every time I get in the car. Finally there is a small pit in the paint on the passenger side groove on the top of the car. It’s small and in the groove so no one sees it but I’ll make a note with dealer in case of future problem. I’m sure these problems will be addressed under warrant but who wants to have there car at the dealership after waiting over a year for their car. Anyone else have a deck lid problem?

This is almost exactly what mind looks like but it is the drivers side that has a larger gap and sticks out slightly and the passenger side is perfectly flush.

i love sporty sedans. i think its because as a kid i used to get hauled around in my dads 96 impala ss :) i didn't know anything about build quality as a 12 year old, i just knew it had a v8 and he could make it light the tires up at every stop light!

its too bad none of the american companies can build a decent quality sport sedan. ctsv got way too expensive and the chevy ss was pretty cheaply put together in my opinion.

Mine was off about a 1/4ā€-3/8ā€ as well. The right corner of the deck lid had rubbed a bit of the paint off below the rear window as well. I took it to the local Ford dealer’s body shop, they took photos and sent them to Ford for a warranty authorization repair. They called me back 2 days later and set an appointment to do the realignment in about 2 weeks. When I took it in it then took them a week to finally get it fixed (they were swamped at the time but that was way too long). Their body shop manager was the one who got it adjusted properly and touched up the paint. I didn’t care what it took I just wanted it right.

So my deck lid doesn't look bad but my hood is so misaligned that I can't use hood struts because the passenger side of the hood rubs on the bracket. Even if I adjust the hood, nothing lines up right so I gave up and now have two sets of hood struts not being used.

I didn't feel like paying for a BMW Z4 as my old age toy but I may regret not having done so.
I bought a Z4 in 2006 as my mid-life crisis car :) I put about 70,000 miles on it over 15 years and sold it last fall to buy a Mustang as my "old age" car. The Z4 was a fun car, but I am much happier with the Mustang. There is just no substitute V8 power and sound.

As far as quality is concerned, I can't say that I am seeing much difference. I did not have any major problems with my Z4, but it wasn't totally perfect either. We will see how my Mustang does over time though.

It was the specific V8 sound that primarily tilted me (as well as cost) to the Mustang. I had a number of V8s in my earlier years in particular.

Not only more expensive to buy, but more expensive to own too ... One of the reasons I sold was that I was looking at some pretty big upcoming expenses including brakes and tires.

Yeah, I had quite a few V8s in my younger years too, including a couple of 5.0 Mustangs.

I get that. But, seriously I don’t think an extra $500 per car to employ better assembly and paint tolerances wouldn’t break any sale. But I’m sure someone will disagree. I don’t necessarily think they should charge for the upgrade, but I think there has to be some incentive for them to improve quality since these cars sell themselves.

The only someone that disagrees is the accounting dept at ford. I’m quite sure the designers, engineers, and enthusiasts at ford would be in agreement with you. Unfortunately the accountants run the show at the end of the day.

Interesting, I just got back from the dealer and he said that if gaps are less than 3/8 ā€œ warranty doesn’t cover. He has offer to try to adjust when I bring it for first oil change. I looked everywhere for this ā€œ 3/8 inch ā€œ in the warranty but could not find it. I said I would get oil change at 1000 Miles and he said that was ā€œold school ā€œ and not really necessary that 5,000K was sufficient. Go figure.

I would go to another dealer or have him show you this in writing. They took several photos of mine and the damage it was causing to the body where it was rubbing. I was called back in two days and they set an appointment to fix it, although they kept the car for over a week. But when I got it back it was right.

I said it was off 1/4ā€-3/8ā€. It was at least 3/8ā€ to cause the rubbing problem. It looked like hell from one side to the other. I was not willing to live with it.

Yea, mine just misses rubbing. If the dealer will do at no cost I won’t have a problem with that.

That's because the German car is made in Hungary and Mexico possibly the USA haha. I have a German passport.

It's all the same in my experience the critical part is dealership service experience. That's what we all remember when spending on next vehicles.

Post COVID all quality and service experience in Canada and USA has gone to E Europe 1992 levels...and that's fun too LOL.
my audi was made in germany :)
i agree on service experience. i will say the audi dealer treats me like i own the place. the ford dealer here scraped my front splitter the only time it was there and then said while sorry, its something that can happen easily in their parking lot. i guess for most of their customers that answer works?

I finally got some closure today on my deck Lid Panel. After being told by the service manager that Ford doesn’t do warranty for fit unless it is 3/8ā€ or more I went to the owner ( small dealership ) He said that the he would make it right and set up an appointment at a local body shop. While discussing with him I kept on hearing ā€œtrunk lid ā€œ adjustment. I called and told him it is the ā€œdeck lid panel ā€œ that is off and the trunk lid is perfect. I suggested that I bring it in to him so I could show him exactly what was off since he couldn’t see it in my pictures. Long story short we popped the two plastic covers in back of the panel, removed the 4 screws, and were able to move just enough to make it look ok. ( I had already done this at home to see if there was room for adjustment, but did not want to force it ) So after all this, it took 5 minutes to fix. Two things, dealers get bashed a lot ( well deserved mostly ), but my dealer was willing ā€œ to make it rightā€ . Second, I was lucky there was enough play to make the adjustment. Time to enjoy the car now.
