I found this link to a Steeda part that seems like a winner for a simple "mod" that makes dealing with your trunk a breeze and wanted to share it.

That's cool. I think I'll get that too, as well as their hood struts.

Steeda Mustang Trunk Pop Kit, No Wing/Small Spoiler (2015-2021)
Steeda Mustang Trunk Pop Kit, Large Wing/Spoiler (2015-2021)

We have recently introduced a system that allows the trunk to automatically pop on your 2015-2020 by just clicking the trunk button on your key fob. It only adds a sense of functionality and efficiency to each owner.

We offer a unique system for your trunk called our “trunk pop kit,” this system allows for hydraulic struts to be used so that it will lift your trunk lid on the fly of pushing your trunk release button. It is beneficial for when you have groceries, your hands full of car parts, or other items from functionality and ergonomically standpoint. Steeda offers to variation of our Trunk Pop Kit in the form of one that can handle a smaller lip spoiler and the other that will be able to hold up pedestal spoilers and race wings.

I had the hood struts added. I went for the Ford parts. If you don’t know The bottom strut on the passenger side needs a 1” hole drilled into the battery cover to allow that sides mount to get to the place it attaches. So, I had the hole slit to the edge of the cover since otherwise if you need to get to the battery you’d have to undo that strut.

I put that on my 2017 last year, easy install, and great to have when you have your hands full and need to get into the trunk. It takes a little more effort to close of course because of the popper.

I've had the trunk kit since the month or so it was released. It's really handy. It does make it HARDER to close it though.
What do you hold to close, the spoiler or the rear panel?

Just an FYI, on my no wing trunk on my 16:
Put the trunk poppers on, one week later I had a dent in my trunk from my wife slamming it shut. Thin aluminum trunk.
Sold them immediately and had to spend 250 on PDR to fix it.
Proceed with caution.

Where was the dent and why did she slam the trunk? Slamming is never good.

Its a tough pull with those struts. They are stiff.
She pulled down on the lip on the top of the trunk lid. Dent on top.
Can't win on this one, scratch the shit out of the deck lid panel or use the corner of the trunk to shut it.

Someone posted that it was too hard to close the trunk after the install and that they dented the trunk lid. Thoughts?
