I'm looking at X-plan and $3000 in rebates. I don't really know if I can go off of 'dealer invoice', because I've heard quite a few financial specialists say that the dealer invoice of today is not the deal it was 10 years ago. The internet, and ease of finding that dealer invoice, has forced dealers to inflate the invoice price to accommodate/account. Not sure how true this is, but it makes sense.
Right, but as a for instance, I got my GT for 8K less than MSRP with discount and rebate. If I'd gone xplan plus rebate I'd have paid MORE, because the discount off of invoice isn't that great; Xplan isn't what it used to be. My deal wasn't unusual, it's common for those buying a '17 right now.

V6, for all of the reasons already mentioned.

I will ask you what your daughter thinks of her Mom's car - I'm assuming that she's driven that car a few times.

I'm also going to suggest getting the available female opinion here. Find out in a little more detail your wife's reasons for liking it so much. Including, perhaps, why it might not matter to her why not having certain features isn't spoiling her ownership experience. Your daughter is more likely to think like she does than like a bunch of guys on a car enthusiast forum do.

Good luck.

She loves her moms car, but herein lies a problem. In '15, the V6 came with a power seat. The '17 V6s don't. Not having the ability to raise the manual seat (like the power seat) really annoys her. To many, this is probably insignificant, but to her, that extra lift gives her the ability to see over the nose ever so slightly better.

So, how do I find a price to start at? Do I take their Xplan price, and counter lower by a certain percentage?

If she gets a V6, get either a 15 or 16 with the 051A package which gives the power seat and 18” Foundry Wheels. It’s much cheaper than an EB, gas mileage isn’t all that different especially since she’ll save a few cents per gallon by using regular and not premium. I’ve had mine for almost theee years now and I love it . It’s a car that makes me smile every day and the great thing is you can upgrade with leather interior and trim bits that becomes more cost effective than an EB premium. I’ve done mainly cosmetic stuff to mine and will eventually get down to some power increases when I can and you don’t have to spend a fortune to get modest increases in hp and handling

Hold the phone! The EB requires premium fuel? I thought it was fine on 87?

I understand this situation completely. My wife is maybe 5'-1" and puts the driver seat in her car way up when she drives it. I'm maybe 5'-10" and have to be careful getting in to drive her car, else I'll hit my head on the way in. She likes the better view the extra height gives her, so 'up' it is. I don't like feeling like I'm sitting on a chair when I'm driving, so I'm always having to run the seat height all the way down. I doubt that any height setting in between has ever been used.

I have to say, Norm, of all the people on this forum, I look forward to your posts more than anyone else's. They are informative and quirky. Years of experience eh? Hopefully that doesn't come off weird.
Lord knows, I'm getting the years in (rolled up another milestone number a week ago today). Hopefully they've all been worth something . . .

They're supposed to be able to run on 87 (but not lower than that even in high-altitude areas). Premium fuel is recommended for any severe duty. Although I don't think it's mentioned in the Owner's Manual as such, I would consider lugging the engine to constitute severe service for any turbocharged engine, where you'd want to have a little extra protection against pre-ignition coming from fuel quality rather than from retarded ignition timing or delayed boost.

I don't have any idea how hard she's likely to end up driving either of these candidates.

What are you talking about? You can raise the driver seat just fine in a base V6. My 2017 pumps right up like any other car. Passenger side does not.

Well, I stand corrected then. 2 different salesmen told us you couldn't elevate it. So, is there a pump handle on the side of the seat?

Yes, it is the horizontal handle. Just went out and took this pic for you. Although I'm a fan of power seats, I would still only ever adjust it the first time and basically stick with it until someone (see: dealership, usually) moved my seat.

The EB can run on 87 or 93. The dealer posted HP and torque numbers are based on 93. If you run 87 the HP drops to 285. The torque is almost unchanged. This was from a Ford service bulletin. The numbers do not change for the V6 as Ford specked it on 87.

That's why I had that blunt "What are you talking about?"! I'm not sure how the salesmen of all people could miss it unless they were really just focused on power options or maybe just selling you up to the Eco.
