I'm all for DRL's. Living in foggy England, there's always plenty of people who don't bother switching any lights on in poor visibility. With mandatory DRL's, they can be seen from the front at least.

I believe you are correct. The LED "Signature" Lamps do not meet Canadian requirements for DRL`s and that is why, regardless of Model or Trim Ordered, all 2015 Mustangs come standard with Fog Lights. Not only that, but they are "halogen" not LED like in U.S. Spec Fog Lamps.

In this review at http://driving.ca/ford/mustang/reviews/road-test/car-review-2015-ford-mustang he states

"All models get HID headlamps. Signature LED lights that look like shark gills add to the aggressive look. Canadian models will use the LED fog lights for daytime running lights."

I hope he's right. I want halogen nothing!

I read that Canadian 2015 Mustangs regardless of Model or Trim level will all have Fog Lamps as Standard Equipment unlike U.S. Models that will not have Fog Lamps on Base Models unless upgraded with Equipment Packages. Since Canadian Fog Lamps will be utilized as Daytime Running Lights as required by Transportation Canada and the fact that the "Signature LED" Lamps don`t satisfy those requirement, Canadian 2015 Mustangs will have "halogen" Fog Lamps while U.S. Models will have LED Fog Lamps. Check Specs on Ford Canada Buyers Guide.

I believe that is true. My 2010 Genesis Coupe has fogs as standard equipment and that wasn't the case in the US. It was for the DRL requirement.

Funny, those most concerned of invasion of their personal privacy have no problem blabbing about ever aspect of their life from when they open their eyes in the morning until they fall asleep at night by Posting, Texting, and Tweeting every other detail to the entire World. WTF?
how does giving info freely = invasion of privacy?

HID replacements for the GTI are about $100 for the pair. Ask me how I know lol. It won't cost you $1500 to replace them.

As for being a responsible driver, yes you would be more responsible than most. But even in the middle of a bright day, a car is more visible with it's lights on. That said, as I've said before I believe you should be allowed to turn off the constant on feature of these lights. Which according to the manual, you can. Yay everyone is happy :D
Glad to know replacements are that cheap - thanks for the correction. And I'm very glad to find out the DRLs can be defeated if desired. Removes my gripe. :D

not what he's talking about.

I believe he's talking about them tracking your speed/ driving mode, location etc. (which is scary)
pffft - already being done. I live next door to the biggest offenders on the planet. (we are in Ellicott City, MD which is a whopping 9 miles from Ft. Meade - wife works for a DoD contractor and is on base daily)

I figured that was the case, was just hoping it was wrong. Hate the ugly dull yellow of a halogen compared to the bright white.

Ford is calling them "Signature Lighting". Can you argue that it is the same thing? Or show them the car.

I can't find it right now, but didn't one of the promotional brochures use the term DDL? Not certain, but I thought that one of them did.

Maybe print out the order guide and highlight the appropriate section.

Technically, the LED "signature" Headlamp Lighting are not true Daytime Running Lights. For most Ford U.S. built Vehicles, it is only available for Fleet Orders. DRL`s are a programmable feature that (knowledgeable) Ford Service Departments can activate using the Cars smart junction box and an IDS Programmer. The Vehicles headlamps will illuminate to approx 80% when the engine is running. Ford Canadian Vehicles will have this feature already programmed as required by Transportation Canada or utilize the Fog Lamps as DRL`s. The "signature lighting" is basically just for design appeal, not function.
