  1. If it wasn't for the S550, what would you be looking at?

Well the only other car I'm thinking of is a 4 door, rear drive V8 with a 6M tranny, the 2015 Chevy SS. I wil drive both the S550 and the SS and then decide. I've always had a 4 door for my DD and I'm worried about the space in the S550 for family and business. But the reviews on the Mustang are...
  2. Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on the S550

    Mais Oui mon ami!!
  3. Adaptive Cruise Control

Right ON! Anyone disgusted with the latest Infiniti commercials where dopes are completely distracted from driving and are depending on the "vehicle" to magically save them from a wreck? This irresponsible advertising makes me sick!
  4. Adaptive Cruise Control

I did forget one thing. Not only does the ACC brake, but the brake lights do, indeed, come on. My son was following me and said that he noticed the brake lights come on. So yes there are systems that apply the brakes and one of those is in my SHO.
  5. Adaptive Cruise Control

I think some of you are mixing up 2 very different systems. The Adaptive Cruise Control uses the front radar to determine distance from your vehicle to the one in front. If someone cuts in front of you or if traffic suddenly slows or stops it will apply the brakes. The other system is the...
  6. Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on the S550

While I personally believe that DRLs do make vehicles more visible at dawn/dusk or in really sunny weather, I am pretty sure that the fact is that there has been no statistical improvement in Canada to prove a reduction in accidents since DRLs were made mandatory. I wonder if anyone can find the...
  7. Rain Sensing Wipers

Auto wipers are a good option to me. Have them on the SHO but the only issue is you have to remember to turn them off at a car wash. Had the blades ripped off once when I left them on. That won't happen again ;)
  8. Convertible Rollover protection

Thumbs up Rickycardo. The OP asked a simple question. The answer is no rollover protection. Now it's his decision whether to buy this car, another vert with the protection he asked about or a hard top.
  9. what is your age and previous car you owned

I'm 61. 1970 Volvo 142GL 1972 BMW 2002 1974 Pontiac Grand Prix 1976 Chrysler Cordoba (No Comment - Horrible car) 1978 Chrysler LeBaron Wagon "Woodie" (Came from the factory rusting LOL) 1984 Mercedes Benz 190 (disappointed in the quality but she saved my life in a big wreck, not my fault) 1985...
  10. Engine start/stop

On my Taurus I do have to have the foot on the brake to start but not to shut down, I simply push the button and it shuts off. I have not tried to shut down while in motion so I cannot speak to that.
  11. Adaptive Cruise Control

In this day of the gendarmes (police) sitting everywhere, cruise makes sense for me since I have a lot of trouble keeping my cars near the limit. Cars today drive fast so easily, it's not worth the ticket if CC works. So I use it like the above poster on long drives but turn it off when I want...
  12. Anybody waiting for spring?

I'm hoping to get a convertible so realistically I'm thinking of late spring as a best hope. I know they may be available in late Nov/Dec but since I'm in NJ I prefer to wait until the snow and, mostly the salt, are gone before I put a new car on the road. This will be my daily driver so she...
  13. automatic window roll down

Ah so no change from the 2010. Makes sense as a safety issue on roll up though other companies do it. I like the roll down feature so the interior cools down quicker in summer.
  14. If it wasn't for the S550, what would you be looking at?

Sounds strange but if not the S550 then I really like the Chevy SS. Especially if the '15 has a manual transmission option. I've always driven a sedan. But while I almost pulled the trigger on a '14, the best thing I did was hold off and now all I can think of is an S550 convertible in TY or CO...
  15. One touch turn signals

On my Vette it's a standard turn signal lever but when you push half way it flashes the signal 3 times. If you hold it half way it will continue flashing for as long as you hold it but if you push harder it holds the flasher on until you complete the turn or manually release the lever.
  16. One touch turn signals

My 2010 SHO does not have the one touch-3 flash feature.
  17. automatic window roll down

Since the convertible top has a mechanical latch, putting the top down will not be possible, but the windows should be doable. My 2010 Taurus SHO can roll down the front windows and open the sunroof to the vent position. I believe newer Tauri (2013-14-15) can roll down all 4 windows.
  18. A good dealer to order from in tristate area.

Depends how far you want to go but I've had a good experience with Beyer Ford in Morristown, NJ and also Family Ford in Netcong, NJ.
  19. Anybody else wish the 2015 were a lot smaller?

Of course this is an each to his/her own decision but for me I appreciate the part time rear seats for 2 folks from time to time. And I like the almost generous trunk as well. We have a Corvette and 2 seaters are a pain for a family but wonderful to drive. I guess what I'm saying is this is not...
  20. Gas tank size?

Wife and I have a 2009 Corvette convertible. Went from NJ to FL this Feb and averaged 500 miles a day. One day we did 800 miles. I am in my 60's (hence the Vette and why I'm thinking of the Mustang LOL), not saying how old the wife is. Neither of us had a problem. Very comfortable for the whole...
