yes, see the whole other thread on DRLs.

they can be disabled in the settings, check the owner's manual.

though, they probably stay on when headlights are on.

Can the orange parking lights be disabled as well? When do they turn on? Id rather have the DRL on and no orange lights on.

Also don't think the signature lighting is sufficient in Canada, which is likely why fog lights are standard in Canada. They're (fog lights) always on on the 2014s, and likely will be on the new car, as well.

From currently available owner's manual:

DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS (If Equipped)
The daytime running lamps system does not activate the tail lamps and may not provide adequate lighting
during low visibility driving conditions. Also, the autolamps switch position may not activate the headlamps in all low visibility conditions, such as daytime fog. Always ensure that your headlamps are switched to auto or on, as appropriate, during all low visibility conditions. Failure to do so may result in a collision.
Type 1 - Conventional (Non- Configurable)
When you switch the ignition to the on position and the lighting control is in the off, autolamps or parking lamp position, the daytime running lamps will turn on whenever the headlamps are off. They turn off only when the headlamps are on.
Type 2 - Configurable
Note: If this type is equipped, you are able to switch the daytime running lamps on or off using the information display controls. See Information Displays (page 83).
When the daytime running lamps are switched on in the information display and you switch the ignition to the on position with the lighting control in the autolamps position, the daytime running lamps turn on whenever the headlamps are off.
The other lighting control switch positions do not activate the daytime running lamps and can be used to temporarily override autolamp control.
When switched off in the information display, the daytime running lamps are off in all lighting control switch positions.​

From my reading it says that when the headlights are on, running lamps are off.

I believe you are correct. The LED "Signature" Lamps do not meet Canadian requirements for DRL`s and that is why, regardless of Model or Trim Ordered, all 2015 Mustangs come standard with Fog Lights. Not only that, but they are "halogen" not LED like in U.S. Spec Fog Lamps.

According to the US order guide, V6 Mustangs in trim level 050A don't have fog lights. Trim level 051A gets them.

I think he's talking about Canada specifically when saying all engine and trim levels come with fog lights. Bums me out because our Explorer has LED headlights and halogen fog lights. So you see two different colour of lights at night. White for LED headlights and yellow'ish for fog lights.

I do hope Ford has improved the headlight notification system though. On my 2012 Focus, I never know when my (auto) headlights are on or my DRL. When headlights are set to auto, the green headlight display notification in the dash comes on. It never turns off as it's letting you know the DRLs are on during the day. The only other way I can tell that my actual headlights are on is by toggling my fog lights on (separate dash icon), which will only come on when the headlights are on. In our Explorer the fog lights will always come on when the headlights turn on, so at least you know that your headlights are indeed on and you're not guessing or having to check.

Not a deal breaker by any means, but something I never noticed until my wife and I owned Fords. That and the fact it's the first vehicles I've had that doesn't have a 'low windshield washer fluid' warning.

One of the first things I did on my GTI was disable the DRLs because in 2010 they were the main HID bulbs! I was not going to fork over $1,500 to replace prematurely burned out light due to stupid requirements from outside the US. Fogs need to be separate lights, down low and really should be off white or even yellow (required by the French to be so for years). Reason for that is light refraction into fog. Driving lights are not the same thing as fog lights. Although here in the US drivers seem to use them for no reason whatsoever so really more of a moot point

I consider myself a responsible driver and am capable of determining when headlights are beneficial. Low contrast, low visibility situations like rain, fog, tunnels, dense tree cover or cloudy days would be prime examples of when you NEED lights on in the daytime. Unfortunately, we have an abundance of idiot drivers and have empowered some regulatory agency to make that decision for us.

The problem with your post is that lights are as much about the other drivers as they are about you. It helps people (pedestrians or other drivers) in sudden changes in weather conditions see you or at least be alerted that you are there.
