^^^ Dang, I feel the pain. I really hate having a dealership do any major work for this very reason. And in your case it was probably the only whole dash removal they've ever done.

I live in Texas and I always have a reflective folding shade thing for the dashboard.

But what is (odd to me) is that Most people who live here don't use a front windshield shade even when it is 105 degrees outside. I think people just assume their dashboard is invincible.

Just to clarify, this should only affect cars with the Premier Trim and the 50th Appearance Package. There is a difference from the regular dash, and it appears that they wrap the pads with a very thin layer of "pleather" and it appears to be imperfections in the leather or the glue used to hold it down isn't holding.

You know, it seems like rather than replacing the entire dash assembly, a repair procedure whereby a syringe that delivers adhesive to defective area might be worth trying.

Have the same problem on mine. Redline interior. Passenger side eyebrow. Right where the brow meets the center speaker grill.

I work at the dealer, so I'll likely get this taken care of while I'm at work. I'll be waiting for a couple years though likely.

Well, the 2nd replacement dash has arrived at dealer to go in my car. The Ford rep said yesterday that engineering thinks that the chemical glue they are using to bond the leather to the substrate is not holding in some conditions.

But, this does not mean that the 3rd dash will be any different than the original or the first replacement.

I cover my dash with a jacket any time I park the car outside since this thread started! I also keep the windows cracked for some ventilation.

In AZ it is a must to use a sunshade for the front window. But my wife refuses to do it. I bought her one and placed it in her backseat and showed her to use it. Will she? Nope. Here's her view: "I don't have time for that crap. Besides, I don't think it makes a difference."

I use a thick sunshade rain or shine. The sun will f!&k up an interior quick. Especially if there is oil from your skin on anything its rays hit. That speeds up the process of deteriorating your interior.

At work, I hear people complaining about their cracked dashes not being covered under warranty. I always mention to them that they ought to have used a sun screen to help slow the process down. Deer in the headlights look ensues.

If the UV rays can,t reach the dash, it seems heat and cooling cycles will eventually get a dash to crack if a car is not garaged when it's parked. How long it takes depends on the qaulity of the plastic/leather and the QC done by the manufacturer.

I dont think I could get myself to fiddle with the entire sunshade, but I definitely "get it".

I wouldnt mind a custom cut dashboard carpet that I could roll up and stick behind my seat. I feel like that would be a lot easier to set out there on the hot/sunny days I am worried about. Of course it doesnt offer as much protection as the entire sunshade, but I think its my personal limit to proactively protecting the interior.

Sunshades take 10~15 seconds to install and another 10~15 seconds to remove. If you make it a habit, it's really not that much of a hassle.

Mine is starting to bubble too, I left the car outside for an hour while I cleaned the garage and just the heat caused it to bubble without much of any direct sun. I'll wait until there's a permanent fix or just deal with it by redoing part of the interior with other materials other than their pleather. I can push the bubble down and smooth it back out with my finger and it stays down when it cools off.
