Noticed Bubbling paint and corrosion on hood coming from underneath. Went to the Ford dealer and they took a bunch of pictures and sent to Ford. They approved replacement of the hood. Anyone else with this problem?

Sadly, quite a few S550s have suffered with this. In fact, it dates back to 2004 and the first S197s! At least your dealer is taking care of you

Unfortunately in the same boat. I need to contact Ford, but honestly I don't have high hopes since mine is '15 and at 42k miles.

How many miles are you at? And did you contact Ford directly or did you go to the dealer?

Mine is a 2016 and I'm at 40,000 miles. I went to the dealer. My new hood came in already and the car goes in on Monday.

My car has spent its entire life between Charleston, SC and Orlando, FL. It's never seen salt, always been waxed/sealed or ceramic coated, and ended up with hood cancer. It took the dealer in Orlando 8 weeks to get a hood, as they were supposedly on a national back order. The issue is upstream handling of the materials, before they're painted, nothing to do with what they're exposed to in the wild.

2015 with 42k miles...just got the call this morning it won't be covered. Might have to try a different dealer.

I have the same problem, for me it started while i was still under warranty so i took it to the dealer and they said that the paint was not covered under warranty, and that external factors caused the issue.

Now after my warranty has expired i learned that this is a quality control issue, and that there are lots of people dealing with this problem. I got a quote for CAD$3000 for the repair since the hood has to be replaced, sanding and painting would not do the trick.

Here is the kicker, the body shops i am getting quotes from know that this is a recurrent problem for Mustangs, BUT FORD DOES NOT!!! I called Ford directly and they say that there is no recall for my VIN and that there is nothing they can do for me. I cannot put on words how pissed off i am right now, really thinking on pursuing legal action.

There used to be a Ford customer service user in the forum who could help in cases such as this, is that person still around?

Corrosion warranty is 5 years 50,000 miles so they covered the new hood and a loaner.I would try a different dealer. My dealer took pictures and submitted to Ford. Got my car back on Friday and the did a nice job. My car had 39,000 miles and was past the regular warranty.

You car is a 2016 and his is a 2015. Ford changed the corrosion warranty language for the 2016+ model years so it's easier to get corrosion warranty on a 2016+ model. It's been discussed in a few similar hood corrosion threads.
