If it happens to me, I believe my strategy will be to wait it out until just before warranty is up. By then I should be able to find a dealer who has "a guy" who has already done it 20 times and learned how to not damage everything by figuring it out the hard way on other peoples cars. Or I'll beg them to just order the part and let me do it myself and they can still take the labor pay from ford lol.
This. Just get it documented and wait on the fix. As far as we know, the current replacement dashboards might be faulty and bubble up as well.

Sigh.

Found more issues this morning:

Managed to chip off the paint on the doorsill, also managed to scratch the scuff plate, and the black trim piece under the door.

I have left a message with the service department at my dealer since they're closed for the weekend, and a message with the dealership general manager. I'll be calling them back again on Monday to make sure these issues are documented and taken care of as well.

This is unacceptable. Granted, I should've known the risks doing a big job like this, but the risks I knew would happen was new rattles (which I haven't had any so far) but nothing like all of this.

I just want it all fixed. The tech did do a excellent job though. Replacing the dash and no rattles, and managed to damage other areas of my car.

Did your dealer resolve these issues and the issue with the scratches on your dash? I'm fearful of taking mine in for the leather imperfections I mentioned on another thread.

Spoke with the manager yesterday, will be replacing the dash trim piece (with the PP gauges, the drivers lighted door sill plate, and the drivers door panel. Bodywork for the dent and the chips to the door jamb will be done that day too. So all in, my dealer is on the hook for $3k in parts and about $600 in bodywork.

Ugh.

I would livid enough about the bubbling dash issue, but the other damage accrued while fixing it would have put me over the top. It's not even my car but it's making me ornery just thinking about it. :frusty:

The whole bubbling dash thing reminds me of the crap door panel issues in the S197s. But at least that was easily fixed....

See, I was understandable about the dent and the scratched dash piece. I get it. Shit happens. But once I saw the other damage, it put me over the top. It's just complete carelessness and not just an accident. I wanna make sure it's fixed. This car was flawless when I brought it in. So I don't feel bad about how much they're in the hole for all this.

Ford has approved mine to be replaced. Now I am terrified after seeing the damage done to yours. They want me to bring it in Tuesday.

Hey Larry,

Let me get you some added reassurance. Send over your VIN, name, phone number, mileage, and dealer info. I'll send this up to a regional customer service manager. They'll work with you and the dealer throughout the process.

theory

In theory, if you drop off the car to get something "fixed", the car is likely to be returned with something "scratched".

Therefore you may start a cycle of coming, and going, coming and going.

After they fix these new damages, please tell us if new damages occur.

Yeah I've been contemplating having a custom sunshade made for the front to protect the dash. My last car sat out in the hot HI sun for the last 3 years (summer can get into the 90's but with very high humidity so it feels hotter than it is) and the dash still looked really good.

Just get a covercraft sunshade. They're custom fit to the car.

That's the nicest sunshade I've ever seen.

Direct from covercraft. It's a bit pricey for a sunshade but it's high quality. Kinda bulky but I just toss it in the back seat area... Not like anyone is going to fit back there anyways. I bought the bag you can get with it, but I personally wouldn't buy the bag if I bought it again - but it's only $6. It's just a hassle having to toss it in and out of the bag. The one I have is the "Rose" colored one. Figured it would match best with Ruby Red.

Covercrafts are great! Had one before and def getting one for the Mustang. They are around $50 - $60 but fit perfect and actually keep your car cooler. Money well spent.

Updating this.

Dropped the car off yesterday to get all the damage taken care of. Now, they have to order a new drivers door panel, sill plate, and exterior trim piece. So I'm in a rental 2015 Ford Escape until everything is done.

Lets see how this all plays out.
