I agree, and firmly believe that Ford missed the mark with the 24. They should have created a much better chassis... but I'm sure the bean counters were not going to let that happen.

I see a couple conflicting numbers on the internet for dark horse, but these seem pretty reliable since I believe they weigh the car at the time of testing (but I may be wrong.)

To be fair, I’ve not seen Ford call it the best NA Mustang. Highest performing NA 5.0L Mustang from factory, yes I’ve seen that. And I think the jury is still out on that based on some of the results that are out there.

Best NA Mustang from factory is still reserved for the S550 350/350R. At least in my opinion.

DH auto is 3997 curb.
350R is 3653 I believe (or about 3700 with electronics package) at the curb + 30hp more and manual.

350lbs + 30hp is significant, though the missed shift would have made it closer. That is the biggest factor preventing this from being a good benchmark.

Dark Horse R is a gutted, non-retail model and costs nearly 150k. An apples to apples test is the DH vs. the Mach 1 which it replaces.

The smartest thing to do would be to get a 10A Mach1 as that's probably as close to an apples to apples comparison you could get, alternatively maybe a roll race between 10A GT's could function as well but I think the DH vs Mach1 is probably the more interesting comparison.

Alternatively seeing them run the road course with the same driver and on the same tire would be more interesting.

They just released a 2024 Mustang GT vs DH with the A10.

Anyone who takes their GT350R for a straight line race is doing it all wrong. It’s gearing and engine was setup for a roadcourse (lap times).
