Thanks guys, the reason I was assuming they wouldn't cover it was I had the counter balances on one side of the exhaust come apart and the dealership told me they wouldn't fix it under warranty because there were resonator deletes welded in.
Now this is a disturbing post. WTF does the elimination of the resonators have to do with either of these things happening. Some dealer are such idiots.

Should have just let it crack and open up, that way you're running open headers.

Unfortunately, dealers and manufactures look for any reason to deny a warranty claim, even if the issue is almost certainly unrelated to a modification. Still, the car's exhaust is modified (however minor a mod and similar to O.E. that it is) and part of the system has failed. IMO, they should fix it in good faith, but I would expect them to say that if it happens again with the modified exhaust, it won't be covered. I think that's reasonable, because when you mod a car, even lightly, it's no longer exactly as the manufacturer designed and warrantied. Ford could claim that the modified resonator section created a resonance in the system which caused the header failure (especially on an FPC engine like the VooDoo). Can you prove otherwise? The MM Act protects against using non O.E. replacement parts, not hacking up an O.E. part. Personally, I don't think the mod had anything to do with the failure. I hope they fix it for you.

The tubular exhaust manifolds and catted X pipe section are 100% identical whether a regular GT350 or GT350R model. Aft of that the two models differ in that one system has straight pipe welded in and the other has resonators welded into the midpipes. Based on that, it is reasonable to argue that a change from one "cat-back" system to the other doesn't degrade the durability of the systems in place upstream of them (we can get technical if needed but I'm simplifying for sake of a quick argument here). In essence, any potential change in resonance is not outside the window or range that Ford engineers designed into either OEM GT350 exhaust system or component. Therefore, a change from a resonator equipped cat back section (or the inverse) has no impact on the life of the exhaust manifolds or tuned mass dampers, for example.

I understand that and I agree with you. I stated that I didn't think the mods had anything to do with it. My point is that Ford could claim just about anything since the O.E. exhaust system was modified. I used resonance as an example because of the vibration associated with it. The issue is the time and effort in proving them wrong.

Same, that's why I mentioned the commonality in order to exclude a claim of resonance.

In the end you either deal with an idiot or someone that has the ability (and freedom within their job description) to think logically.

OP, look to find a dealer who cares more about customer satisfaction and uses reason; my warranty experience with SVT and ford has been great at one dealer, and horrible at another..

This...its all about the quality of the dealer and how well THEY interface with Ford Corp....
