Going down the highway today and a rock hit the windshield. Left a crack that spans probably close to 2 feet. Is our windshield the same as the lower models? If I call one of those places that come to me do they use the OEM glass or a generic that fits? First time this has happened to me, thanks for the input.

Double check with the installer, they will use generic glass if you leave it up to them. They should have OEM glass available, but it will cost more.
BTW, I was an auto glass installer in a previous life.

The GT350 uses Carlite Soundscreen glass. I accidentally got the non-soundscreen version (used in some other versions of the Mustang) when I had my window replaced. I'm honestly not too sure if the car is louder, but I think the road noise has increased, so be sure to mention the soundscreen.

Pretty sure because of the Ford logo and soundproofing, you're going to get an OE piece of glass regardless. Could be wrong though!

I'll find out on Sunday, Safelite is going to replace mine after it got two cracks on my drive to Vegas. The last time they did my '14 Focus not that long ago, they used OE glass without asking. I think it was because of the more unique masking on them.

I got non OEM glass when I did my 04 F150 from a local installer. It was fine other than moderate distortion in the more curved sections.

The soundscreen glass is definitely nice. Definitely can tell the difference between it and typical glass in monsoon rains, but honestly for a GT350 the white noise from the tire roar will kill most of the difference in normal use.

I like to disassemble things.
I just had Safelite replace a cracked windshield on my '14 Jeep Rubicon. A bolt was flung up in the air by a van in front of me and boinked right into the center of the windshield. By the time I got home 15 minutes later, the chip/crack extended from top to bottom.

Before I exited the Jeep at home I googled and found Safelite. I entered the VIN and filled a couple of other fields and was asked if I wanted a lower than OEM grade windshield. Since the OEM Jeep windshield comes with some unique detail I said no. I was given a very reasonable price and chose an install date of the next morning. The installer from Safelite was prompt, courteous, and did a fantastic job. He took $40 off the price (I never asked for it - he just went ahead and did it and let me know) and in turn I tipped him $20.

I highly recommend Safelite. They were very professional.

Y'all know that the comprehensive part of your car insurance pays for this?
That's why I always carry $50 deductible on Comprehensive.

FYI: The OEM factory glass has two pins that align with holes in the window frame. The OEM replacement glass I got did not have these pins.

Curious to hear about the experiences of others.

Interesting thread, and the alignment pins are unique? I've researched glass replacements and was going to try Optic Armor, a 50% reduction in weight for the S197 platform.

I have used Safelight services before the do good work fixed a stone chips in the middle of my glass on the Shelby and my girl friends Fusion. The glass today is not like the glass from the past it's much thinner for weight savings but that comes with the cost of breaking easily.

Buying non OEM glass does not always fit right because of compromises to cut cost. I use to work for an auto glass store when I was younger so I have inside knowledge on this subject

The OEM glass part number is FR3Z-6303100-E and AutoNation Ford White Bear Lake has it priced at $237.09 + shipping. Check with your local dealer to save on shipping.

I am seriously considering buying 2 just in case I need one in the future.

Just confirming that Safelite did come out to my house on Sunday and replaced my glass with an OE sheet (Soundproofing+Ford logo, Carlite), no problems at all. This is like my 5 replacement in 4 years and every time Safelite has nailed it. No leaks, very professional, come to you, super quick and this and my last replacement on my Focus ST were OE glass.

Also yay for Arizona and it's $0 deductible auto-glass coverage.

I believe it's a zero deductible here as well. They do that so everyone isn't running around with broken glass and you can get a ticket for it here I know. If it cost even $50 a lot of people just won't do it. They'd rather buy a steak dinner that will come back out in 2 hours vs replacing something that could seriously injure them or someone else if something else hit it...
