I got the Covid 3 weeks ago. I had super bad symptoms, I had a stuffy nose, a slight cough and some aches and pains. It was like any cold I ever had, just a bit different.

Everyone I know who got it had similar symptoms. My Mother is 85 got it and is fine. She had loss of taste and that really bugged her.

Anyway I will not get the vaccine since I had the disease. My body now knows how to fight it off. My Daughter, who also had it, just gave blood and because she has the covid anti bodies they paid her 100 bucks.

cool, I've had a cold for the past 3 days, first time I've been sick in well over a year. Just nsal and high throat mucus. Instead of paying to get an antibody test I'll go give blood and get paid? Where do I sign up?

The antibodies dont last. My friends father got it early last March, and we believe he gave it to my whole family. Unfortunately his 49 year old father died after being in the hospital for three weeks. We weren't able to be tested at the time but in June we all tested positive for the antibodies. Unfortunately my mother was diagnosed with colon cancer in August so she has been tested dozens of times during her treatment and we all have since be tested for the antibodies again. All of us were negative for them.

If that is true, then the vaccine won't last either.
This isn't particularly true, the antibodies you get from a vaccine are different than the ones you develop from when you get COIVD. I believe that is one of the reasons why they vaccines can resist the variants.

It can get complicated because the strength of the immunity system varies from person to person and I don't think there is a way to test it accurately unless you sample a chunk of the human population and that would be a waste of resources.

I know that this is a common question that comes up, and it varies for different viruses and vaccines but for the COVID one the antibodies you get are stronger. I can try to go through and try to find the information. I am not familiar with the specifics of antibodies and vaccines

Oh look, another internet Dr....

“With natural infection with the virus, the body may generate an immune response to multiple proteins on the outside and inside of the virus—but ones that aren’t doing any good because they don’t block the spike protein from ACE2.” The mRNA vaccines only code for the correct protein. “That’s one of the reasons why people who have already been infected with COVID-19 should get the vaccine. Even if you’ve survived the infection, you don’t know if you have good neutralizing antibodies or a lot of irrelevant antibodies.”

Got my shot last week. Glad for it.

I'm not a DR. My great grandfather was a Dr, my grandfather was a surgeon, my sister is a Dr.

Grandfather who is 102 and Sis won't get the shot.

MY wife gets her second shot in a week I think. I'm waiting to decide if I get it or not. Leaning towards not though. I've accepted my fate as being wished to die for not getting this shot.

Edit: I also only where my mask when required but don't make a big deal about it.
